Just got the tweet. Mixed feelings about this. On a selfish note I'm happy that he will only have played for the Rangers, but at the same time I feel for Hank. Most importantly I hope it's a manageable condition.

I don't think there's hard and fast rules, but I would. Richter was technically part of the Predators and Oilers organizations, but that was a little different.

I hope physically he's ok. I also have had the opposite take on him signing with the Caps. I wanted to see him with another team and play against him, just out of sheer curiosity. Hopefully he's ok and doesn't retire because of this.

I'll always say it. Put the recent pens dynasty team in front of him or the teams brodeur had and this guy would have had more cups than any goalie.

He never stepped on the ice or played a game for another team and it sure looks like he never will considering this health condition combined with his age.

So yeah, he's a lifetime Ranger no question in my mind. I don't see how one can look at it any other way!

Since no one wants to say it, I guess I'm going to have to be the jerk...

If any of this was concealed from the Rangers when they bought Hank out, we should be able to roll it back and LTIR the contract instead.

With that being said, I wish Hank the best, and I hope he's treated and back to 100% ASAP.

Just got the news too, boy this sucks. First and foremost I hope this is something that can be fixed/remedied and he will live a long healthy life.

Secondly I knew how much he wanted to continue to play and how excited he was to join the Caps and potentially contend for a Cup. That really stinks.

As a fierce competitor who loves the game this really had to hurt. I feel really bad for the player but hoping for the best for the person. Man this came out of left field.

Just a reminder of how unfair sports can be sometimes. This guy definitely deserved one last run at the Cup. At the same time, I am so happy this was caught, and there wasn't a tragedy on the ice. This guys has a beautiful family, is a first-ballot hall of famer, and has a long life to do just about anything he would like.
