With these posts moved around all the time the context of discussion is lost. Why be so picky as soon as a discussion is a bit off topic?

What do you think of Tuch this season? Is he playing like someone worth signing at that point?

he's been better then last year but not physical enough at all but the production is up so far. I would think the Habs sign him at some point as they may not want him going back for his Senior year, he's got the NHL size/strength with solid speed/skating but we'll see how the year goes for him, so far so good but still a longs ways to go as right now I look at him as just a future 4th liner until he can show more offense.

They don't have a lot of guys like him in the system and I see the same you do, he's a bottom 6er right now but that's fine. Every team needs guys who can be physical, have size and enough of a skill game to contribute and chip in.

His brother never had impressive numbers in college neither. Matured late

Tuch was always projected as bottom-6 player w more meanness to his game but less skill vs his brother.

I really don't see it with him, much of the hype is based on his last name.

Worth signing as a depth glue guy with an outside chance of becoming more like his brother, at this point he screams AHLer to me but the kind of guy you can call up at least.

To me it's similar to the McCarron pick. We all want big guys that can play, because we need size. But just because we want a big guy to be able to play, doesn't mean he can. But some posters get emotionally attached to what they want and that blinds them to reality.

It happened with Shane Wright. Everyone wants us to get a generational center. But when reports came out saying maybe Slafkovaky is the better prospect and maybe we'll pick him, many posters were saying no way Slaf is the better prospect. We can't pass on the generational center. It's a conspiracy. The Toronto media is generating these stories to convince our management to chose Slaf so we miss out on the generational center. Etc... etc...

He's got what McCarron never had: speed. You can build on that, maybe even a career.

Is he at least as good (or bad) as Condotta ?

There's not really any hype on him.

He actually had a pretty good (although shortened) freshman season in the NCAA but that hype calmed down as he struggled with injuries and production in his sophomore season.

He's been good, not great this year in the NCAA.. but yeah, I think it was a long shot to expect anything more from him than being a physical presence on a line that can bring some offense. He didn't have his brothers hands or skating, but he's meaner.

Even if he just ends up as a bottom six guy with some size and skill it'll help in the future.

It'll be nice filling out our bottom six with cheap, internal options.. as opposed to Bergevin paying $3M plus for veterans like Armia, Byron, etc. to play on our 4th line and limiting our cap space to improve our top 6 F and top 4 D.

At the Tuch's age, Condotta was playing in the OJHL while Tuch is in his 3rd NCAA season.

If you want to go by NCAA years:
Condotta
1st year (21 years old) 9 pts in 34 games 0.26 ppg
2nd year (22 years old) 10 pts in 34 games 0.29 ppg
3rd year (23 years old) 10 pts in 20 games 0.50 ppg
4th year (24 years old) 23 pts in 33 games 0.70 ppg

Tuch
1st year (18 years old) 11 pts in 16 games 0.69 ppg
2nd year (19 years old) 10 pts in 26 games 0.38 ppg
3rd year (20 years old) 7 pts in 9 games 0.78 ppg

He is miles ahead of Condotta at the same age. Not even close to comparable.

Big body that can play a physical game is exactly the type of player you will overpay to get a the TDL before going in the playoff

I'm impressed McCarron and Tinordi are still making it in the league though, both character guys give 100%, I admire that out of players that work that hard to overcome the skillset. Big Mike would still be ok on our 4th line. Imagine if Drouin had this attitude.

Seems like Tuch is a 2nd half player.... sounds about right. It would be great if he became a player, we could use a guy like him.
Problem is he is very likely to play his 4th season at BU and will then be a free agent. Not positive he has any reason to sign with MTL over the typical US teams.

I mean.. I wanted Hutson to do well in his first NCAA season, of course i did, like reasonably well, as in 20ish points would of been MORE than fine..
But 30+ points??
Absolutely ridiculous lol, neeeever expected that man
Just so so cool

After tonight, he has 29 pts in 23 games. BU still have another 8 regular season games left. He's on pace to have 39 pts in 31 regular season games. And in the NCAA, your games and points in the conference playoffs, NCAA tournament, Frozen Four & National Championship games all count in your stat line.

So depending on how far BU go, he can have a 45+ point season.

Meanwhile, Tuch has been getting it done lately also. He has 7 pts in his last 6 games. He's on pace for 21 pts in 32 regular season games.

Tuch set a collegiate career high in goals tonight. He had 6 in his freshman year. He had 6 last year as a sophomore. He scored his 7th of the year tonight. He also set a career high in points two games ago. He had 11 pts his first year, 10 last year. He had 13 heading into tonight, and now he's at 16 pts.

People said that about Evans and Harris when they went back for their final year of college. Evans is Canadian. But everyone said he had no reason to want to sign with Montreal because they were terrible. He signed. Last year, they were saying Harris wanted to hit free agency to sign with a US team. He signed.

Tuch will be signed. Only reason he won't sign is if he is included in any trade. But if he remains a Habs prospect, expect him to sign with Montreal. Even if he goes back to NCAA next year.

He was a 2nd. Do teams still get compenated for unsigned 2nd rders... or is that only 1sts now?

Ya cause you know, Montreal has that history of NCAA players opting for free agency….especially now with Hughes at the helm who’s clueless when it comes to the US programs and their players.
