Kopitar didn't look right all season, slow skating, not as physical with the puck and along the boards, almost like he was playing hurt. I don't want him anywhere near the WC's. The only non NHL tournaments I'd want any of the Kings players in would be the Olympics.

And on the family angle, lets not act like Kopitar has spent loads of time with his family. How many road games did the Kings have since his daughter was born? He wasn't exactly going straight from her crib to Staples Center.

Fact is, Kopitar has played a ton of hockey over the last 3 years and needs a break. He doesn't need to push himself or god forbid suffer an injury at the WC's. He needs to take time to rest, recover, and train in LA.

Kopitar's intensity level at the World Championships will surely match his level of competitiveness from the All-Star game.

You must be mistaking a prestigious, traditional tournament like the World Championships (the Stanley Cup is considered to be of secondary importance compared to them by many fans here) with that Mickey-Mouse tournament in September 2016, an extended all-star weekend and Bettman's circus idea of generating cash. :shakehead If Kopi & Gabby refused to play in that one, so that Kopitar can play with his baby (or babies by then), and so that Gabby can gather strength for the upcoming season, that would be perfectly OK.

He needs to take time to rest, recover, and train in LA.

Says who? :amazed: That would come over here as selfish and arrogant, and players who would openly proceed like this would be despised for years to come in their native country. Is that really your wish for the Kings players? I'm pretty sure all Slovenian hockey fans are saying Kopi needs to represent Slovenia for once at the Worlds, now that he's finally available (unlike in recent years). He has the rest of spring and the whole summer to rest afterwards.

Don't even bother arguing with them. They think they own him. They rent his services from October to whenever the season ends. Kopitar belongs in our national jersey.

But hey, fellow fans. Just think, maybe he can get hurt a little at the WC which would drive his worth down a little more when it comes to that extension of his. Maybe then the kings can sign him for 4 years at 3 million and just toss him aside afterwards. Success!

It's gonna be tough because Slovenia has Russia, the US, Finland and Slovakia in their group: http://www.iihfworlds2015.com/en/games Only the top 4 teams get into the play-offs. However, that's exactly what Slovenia accomplished in Sochi: Kopi dominated in the game against Slovakia, and Slovenia defeated them (which was perceived as a national humiliation in Slovakia). Gabby didn't play in Sochi, though (injured in Columbus back then), so it would be interesting to see a Kopi vs. Gabby matchup for the first time now.

While it is disappointing to not be able to defend our title, I am proud of what this team has done. I have been around since 1978 and I'm not jumping ship EVER. Four years worth of hockey in 3 years is a lot and maybe they need a rest.
Even if they never win another Cup (I do believe this core has at least 1 more in them), the last 3 seasons will be an indelible vision of pride and joy that my beloved Kings, even if briefly, stood on top of the mountain.

For the next two months however, Let's go Blues, do it for DT.

Any idea why Quick wasn't awarded with an assist in that empty net goal where puck bounced from Quick's save to Toffoli and they scored with Andreoff? I don't know if I've missed something but I remember plays where goalies got assists in that type of plays.

Not a kings fan here but little disappointed with the way things came down this season, they were always fun to watch in the po's and one of my favorites in the west. Looking forward to see them strong again next year.

Andreoff looked decent last night. I think he was fighting for that 4C spot. He will be fighting for it all of next year with Stoll, who'll be back on a cheap 1 year contract.

We are not looking for QF. We would just like to avoid relegation...

That part about recover and TRAIN IN L.A. are my thoughts as well.

question: in the video of the final line up where the players are bumping helmets with quick, at the very end of the line kopitar is standing with quick and then williams skates up to give his thanks but it looks like kopitar kind of takes a swipe at him. can anyone tell me what that's all about?

Hockey is a growing sport and Kopitar is the poster child of hockey for Slovenians.

Just telling him not to go, when his contribution to hockey in that country is so great, makes you all sound selfish.

He could get injured playing golf, too. Should the Kings wrap him in bubble wrap until preseason?

Let Kopitar do what he wants to do. He's earned it. And for how below average he played, he still led the team in scoring, so maybe the micro managers want to focus on other underperformers?

It shouldn't be a big deal, it happens in Nba a lot. Nowitzki never shied away from int. competition unless injured and his team made the postseason all but one time since 2000. He even paid for his licence fees from his own pocket at times.

Since 2000, the Mavs have only been to the conference finals or beyond 3 times, and never even in back-to-back years, including 6 first round losses. Not even close to the same.

I also thought he looked good, but after they put on the wing with Toffoli and Stoll (I believe). In the A, he played mostly wing and I think he's better suited for that.

No way Stoll is back next year unless no other team interested. At his age he will be hoping for his last multi year deal

Maybe just for better understanding what dows this year WC means for average Slovenian hockey fan. Something similar as it was for all Kings fans playing in SC final.

For example there will be over 3.000 Slovenian supporters at the game against USA, that will travel by cars and buses 600 - 700 km (average distance from Slovenia to Ostrava by road). And we are all aware that this season is anomaly for Kings and it is real question if there will be in the future any chance at all to see Kopitar in his prime years play for our NT in WC. I personally don't expect that there will be a chance because in my opinion Kings won't miss PO in next five years.

And I also think this is last chance for him to play for our NT under his father because I don't think Matjaz Kopitar will stay our NT coach for much longer. He is having interesting offers and in Slovenian hockey is almost everything wrong (with exception of our NT).

Call me selfish, that's fine. Seems pretty selfish to me to want to go play more games when you were apparently too tired to piss a drop against Calgary and Edmonton in must win games. As I said we pay for the privileged life he leads, and if he wants to eat his pudding then maybe he shouldn't leave the scoring up to Jordan Nolan in must win games?

As for the injury stuff, sure he could get injured anywhere. Candice Swanepoel could also fall from the sky and land in my lap, but it's MUCH more likely for it to happen if I were to go to a Victoria's Secret photo shoot than it is right this second in my living room.

I was gonna make a big long post, but I decided not to. It's not even worth it. Fact is they play in the best league on the planet and are LA Kings players. That is all.
