How was he used in Hamilton ?
Why didn't he get a call up last year ? He shown he could handle the big league a year prior.

How many of his games have you watched ?
Can you say that he was given all the chances to succeed last year?

Easy to claim that a player sucks when he's young and not developed yet. Pacioretty had very similar heat on him as well.
I'm not saying he's going to make it but it's still far too early to make a definitive statement on the guy's career. I think he has all the tools and the on-ice mentality to be a pro - he didn't look particularly out of place in his 40 game stint either.

Which is why I don't get the criticism. Unlike our other over-hyped prospects who are 5th round 'sleepers' who fail. This guy is actually 1st round talent, good head on his shoulders and even played in the NHL and didn't look bad in doing so. He's capable of playing in the NHL but he needs to improve and regain confidence.
Collberg, Hudon, de la Rose, McCaron, Bournival, Dumont and Bozon will pass him in the depth chart and Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Paciorety, Plekanec and Eller will all stay for a long time in Montreal.
Leblanc will play a long time in the league as a third or fourth liner but probably not with the Habs. He will be trade sooner than later.
I like how guys who played on either the same **** AHL team or haven't even played in AHL are surpassing him on depth chart. A little early. He's still ahead based on experience alone.

You wonder why it was good enough for him to be at a development camp but not a rookie camp....Leblanc had a bad enough season that he needed to be accountable for it. And showing your stuff at a rookie camp before the pro camp would not have been detrimental to his game or his entire career. He shows up at the rookie camp and destroy the competition, that could also have been great for his confidence. Strange that everybody, and mostly the organization voiced pretty loudly that it was a setback year for Leblanc and yet, directly to the main camp. Okay, so it has to be a confidence issue....which if it's the case, says a lot about that player.

Yes. I agreed with the pick BIG TIME. Thought just surpassing Kristo in his draft year in the same USHL team by 1 point, but surpassing him nonetheless was a great enough sign of his potential. Really thought that this was one local we could not let go. But this has NOTHING to do with how you treat him from now on. If he deserves a spot, you give him, if he doesn't, you don't. No matter where he was chosen, no matter what you thought at the time. Frankly, I always hate when I hear how this or that player will get every chance they need 'cause they are top round draft picks....Sorry but if in the end, you see that your 4th rounder has more potential than your 1st, well that's it, move on and give the time to the most deserving player no matter which round they were chosen. Yes, you'd look bad 'cause your 1st rounder suck, yet, you will look great 'cause of that steal in the 5th round....Patience though is indeed key for everybody.....but no matter which round they are picked in.

Thing is, everything is fickle. Opinions changes with new things you learn and as time passes by. In life or in whatever sport. Personnally, not ready to give up on the kid. Not at all. Still believe he has in him to succeed. Really wished he would have bulked up more though.

He was given plentiful ice-time on the top lines in Hamilton. It's not the Habs fault he hasn't dedicated any time to the gym to become stronger and that he does not excel in any offensive category.
He was only called up the year before because of injuries and he was not able to handle it. He showed glimpses. So do many players. Marcel Hossa must've been mishandled????

He has decent size and skills, above average hockey sense and not afraid to get his hands dirty. No reason he can't develop into a solid 2nd liner or above average 3rd liner.
Like usual on here, people panic over one bad season. It's not the end of the world. At 20 he was getting top 6 minutes at the end of the season and not looking out of place.
Showining up big and bulky is the not the formula for on ice success. Guys like Byfuglien are supremely talented but carry around 20-30 extra lbs and it hurts their game.
If LeBlanc shows up at 220-230lbs it will hurt his game not help it. He needs to be at 190-195lbs at this point, maybe closer to 200lbs the coming years. Size wasn't his issue last year, I think he lost focus after playing the 2nd half in the NHL and starting AHL, then the bad ankle injury made things worse. If he shows up this year with the proper focus he can be a top line player in the AHL and be knocking on the NHL door.

The thing is with Leblanc, as a bottom Nhler, he doesnt fit our needs. Maybe in a year or two, when Bergevin will be done improving size and physicality it wont be a problem anymore. But in a lineup full of softies, its hard to find him a role. Im sure hell be a Nhler, but im not sure it will be with us.

It was a weak draft class after the first half of the 1st round. The Habs had just gone through a PR nightmare because of their lack of French Quebecois players, and the draft was in Montreal (I think).
They drafted LB because there was no other pick was a home run, he had a great pedigree, so they appeased the RDS/JdM crowd with a pick they believed would not urt them.
He has a good profile, he just needs to put it all together.
I like his edge. I hope he surprises us all. If he does not fit with the core players on the Habs, then I hope another team is smart enough to give him a shot.
p.s. I remember JC Lajoie saying he was not a "real" Quebecois because his parents were doctors and he came from the West Island. What a tool.

You do know that this is not what I have in mind. I'm just looking at stature and frame and didn't see a lot of improvement. What's his real weight anyway? Habs site still has him at 178lbs which makes no sense. DB has him at 190lbs....

Time for LL to prove he can play with the big boys this season as replacement for injury, otherwise he burnt all the bridges for me already.
I don't see any particular talent other than slightly above average hockey IQ, and since he's soft I don't want him locked up on our bottom lines for multiple years (aren't you guys tired of guys like friggin Tom Pyatt, Jeff Halpern, Enqvist, baby soft players with good hockey heads, well Halpern's a bit stronger, but you got my point). He's too slow and dosen't have top 6 potential.
I'd hope for a good season to showcase him as 3rd liner PK specialist and then trade for picks. Or that he makes me eat crow, then I'll be the happiest Habs fan around.
Good to see the Habs basically telling him : You're now at the crossroad, you're not a rookie anymore, you've graduated, will you get the office with a superb view on the sea shore ? or in the basement with a sight on the garbage alley ?
Injuries sometimes define a guy's career. I've had a shoulder surgery and then endured pain for one whole year, because 1 month after surgery I was back on skate and soon after training staff wanted to test the shoulder with some too early contact in hindsight. This mistake made me waste a whole year of bad performances and scared play. Last year's LL was a disaster, I don't know what happened, but the injury really slowed down his development.
Then the train passes and you don't realise you just missed it. Still, I ain't got a sight on the garbage containers, but I sure ain't a millionaire playing in the NHL.

Agendas.....that's the new "classy". Everybody has agendas. 1 main agenda though is to see this team finally be relevant and win. I guess everything else is minor. But definition of being a fan is not to be always able to be methodical and logical. You become a fan and it comes with emotions and strong opinions.
I believe he was 190 in Hamilton last year. He's approaching his best pro weight.
