Lots of all-time offensive individual records within reach by Oiler players in the finals. McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard & Hyman. Any predictions?

the mcpace not looking great so far

Hyman hitting 19 seems very unlikely, the assists records for McDavid and Bouchard look doable still I guess but already more games than Gretzky and Coffey

Sakic having 17 in 18 games entering the final in 1996 and not doing it, represent this quite well.
It's only normal for the pace in round 1 and 2 to be higher than the pace in round 3 and 4 when the best of the top teams remain.

Mcdavid pace these playoffs is 1.6PPG.
1.74PPG was the pace during the regular season.

It's one thing to play the Kings, but Stars and Panthers are different beasts.

After the round 1 beatdown on LA, McDavid has 20 pts on 15 games. 1.33PPG pace. 99% of players would be happy with that but for Connor it's sub-par.

A drop of a whole goal per game from the first round to the rest of the playoff is apparently common.

The final 20 games of the postseason – basically Round 3 and the finals – then usually average well under five goals a game. ...
The last two years, for example, save percentage has jumped from .910 to .920 in the playoffs, and it progresses higher deeper into the postseason.

I predict that the Oilers are going to demonstrate that they are the worst team ever to skate on ice, their good players are actually the worst players of all time (ainec), and that they are so bad that they should draft first overall, but definitely should not draft first overall.

My prediction is that if the Oilers don’t win the Cup it should be a colossal failure on epic proportions considering “Lots of all-time offensive records within reach by Oiler players in the finals, McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard and Hyman”, as the title suggests.
How can this be when the consensus seems to be that Bouchard sucks, and McD and Drai only put points against 3rd string goalies....

You guys need to make up your mind;)

With the Oilers now facing elimination and McDavid being slowed down it looks like Gretzky's assist record could stand

Nope. One record down. 32 assists for McDavid.

Bouchard is now only 2 assists away from tying Coffey at 25. Doesn't look like he'll give Coffey a run for points though (37).

None of the other records have really moved much, and so seem unlikely. Despite beating Gretzky's assist record, McDavid is still far off the Assists per Game, and I doubt he does that.

With 38 points - McDavid now sits #5 all-time behind only Gretzky (3x) and Lemieux (1x) for most points in a single run.

The fact that Hyman's goal scoring has disappeared against FLA reinforces how hard the goal record (19) for a playoff run is to match or break even though it may not seem that impressive on the surface.

Players get hot and pour in a bunch of goals in a series or two, but there's a reason that record hasn't been tied or eclipsed in all these years. Beating it requires uncanny consistency (an average of five goals per series). Last year it looked like Draisaitl might breeze by the record when he had 13 goals in eight games and then he didn't score another goal.
