I don't see us very far from getting back to at least the ECF next year.
Oof. You don't go far back as '92'-93 do you ?
Anything can happen, nothing is a guarantee.

The Rangers were handed PP's hand over fist last night.
Sometimes its more about execution and less about not getting a call or a bounce. In fact, thats the case most of the time.
“They bury their chances and we don’t,†Nash said. “You have to be able to finish.â€
So, I realize I'm the new guy here and my opinion holds little value, but...
FWIW.
IM 45 and got into hockey in 1980 when I moved out to LI from The Bronx. This is when the Islanders were the **** and all my new friends were Islander fans. Me being the person I am, did not want to jump on their bandwagon and stuck with my city roots by following the Rangers.
Looking back now, even though I was aware of the Rangers long draught, I "only" had to wait 14 years to see them win it all. It's been 20 years since. It blows my mind that I've waited longer now than then.
Anyway....I love Lundqvist but Richter will forever be my boy. Richter delivered....Hank has not. Not yet anyway. That's just the way it is in sports, not saying I agree just stating facts. You HAVE TO deliver on a championship stage to be considered great. Sometimes even that's not enough, just look at Eli Manning. The guy is a 2 time MVP on 2 championship teams and still gets dissed. Would Mariano Rivera be as highly regarded if he gave up runs when it mattered most. No. He wouldn't. He came in and SHUT. TEAMS. DOWN. Shut em down in incredibly high pressure situations.
When you do THAT and you win as a result? That's when you're "great".
Yup.
That quote pretty much sums up the series in a nutshell. The failure to execute has been an issue for some time and it is really burning us now.
Defacto captain my ass.
so the last time they got shut out in the postseason they went on a 5 game winning streak... right?

Go **** yourself Modano, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't your team win the cup by interfering with the goalie?

Dorsett has been fantastic Carcillo has to sit.
he's DONZO
Make McDonagh Captain...
McDonagh is the only option.
No, they got shutout again.
I agree, but one of Staal or Girardi will get the C, Staal if he signs long-term, Girardi if he doesn't. This is all just IMO, of course.
Zuccarello deserves a long-term contract and a letter on his jersey. That midget is all heart and brings it every time he's on the ice.
Quick reminds me of Richter in a lot of ways.
Well said. A lot of fans "don't get it" though and they keep bringing up regular season stats, awards etc. They just don't get that we as fans could care less about that stuff. The only award we care about is THE CUP. Richter has it, Lundqvist doesn't. These are the only FACTS that are not in dispute. No hypotheticals involved.
I think Staal is gone soon. IMO. Quite possibly at the draft.
Girardi makes a great A
Give St. Louis the C for one year, and after he's gone give it to McDonagh.
