You end up paying for mistakes against top players in the NHL, unless you're a generational defender like Doughty.

Who know /shrug.

The advanced stats say other wise.

Muzzin is still a 60% possession player away from Doughty. Muzzin still has healty defensive stats away from Doughty, and still logs 20+ minutes a night.

Playing with Greene, Muzzin is still a corsi god. Muzzin is basically carrying Greene. Since Sutter paired Muzzin with him, Greene's corsi numbers have jumped a good bit.

Jake Muzzin's best corsi among all defenders while being paired with Drew Doughty over the last two season would disagree.

I'm a huge proponent of advanced stats but I've said Muzzin is an example of their limitations. Greene is a turnover machine but his are usually on the wall; Muzzin's turnovers are much fewer but more egregious than any defenseman we've had since Randy Jones.

I love the guy, he brings a lot to our team and I agree he's better than everyone (including Voynov) not named Doughty, but it's fair to worry that the puck inconsistencies have come back to his game. Remember a few years back he was centering passes to the Blues the whole series; last playoffs he seemed to have worked that out and was a flat out animal on both sides of the puck. This year, it seems to have come back with increaed minutes (while doughty was playing close to 30 Muzz was up to 26-28 most nights) and it HAS hurt us. I'll say he's done a TON more good than harm, but just like we need our best players to be our best players, he's in that group. Needs to take better care of the puck, because few errors can be damning if they're passes right up the middle to an opposing stick.

It's why Sutter moved him, I think.

Get his game back on track. Muzzin can carry Greene like A-Mart does. McNabb/McBain can't. There is not a single Defender on the Kings the can handle Doughty's minutes. Only Doughty.

Regardless, I am amazed Muzzin has good advanced stats where ever, who ever he plays with.

Never in my life would I have thought I would see the day, that Trevor Lewis, outscores Dustin Brown in a season.

It may happen this year, Trevor Lewis is catching Brown. I don't even, wha..uh... HOW ?

Also Herby's Green Jacket:

Brown -9 (all alone Cap, atta boy leading the way).
Nolan -5
Kopitar -4

Brown/Stoll/Williams

Well is good to have all bad players on one line, because then they don´t sabotage other lines.:naughty:

Didn't matter how they did it, they just couldn't leave two points on the table against the Oilers.

A big 5 games coming up. Montreal, Pittsburgh, Colorado(who outplayed the Kings in the last game), Vancouver, and Nashville. Probably need to at least break even with 5 points in these 5 games.

Kyle Clifford and Jordan Nolan have been unbelievable these past few weeks. Up there along with Carter/Toffoli. Good for them. Brown-Stoll-Williams is by far our worst line, no argument.

Agreed. Clifford and Nolan have found real chemistry with Nick Shore and that line is getting more minutes. I believe they played about 10 minutes last night. Lately they have turned from just grinding and providing energy to contributing on the score sheet, which is sorely needed.

Muzzin. He's solid but the few mistakes he makes are bad. Very bad!

I disagree with this. He was flaming all night long and it wasn't because he was in some disco.

How many passes did he make that were almost intercepted for odd-man rushes or breakaways going the other way? I lost count. If this was Saturday night against Pittsburgh the Penguins would have had 10 goals midway through the game. Thankfully it was against a team in tank waters that didn't bother with the errant passes.

Muzzin has to get his **** together. I haven't seen anything from this guy in the past three weeks that would indicate to me he deserves to have his mug lifted from the dumpster fire.

Zen you say?

Sutter being the bamboo. Bend but do not break!

A FEELIN' YOU!

Love it when Sutter ignores Vic in post season press conferences.

Sekera looked a little more stable. He looked decent on the PP as well.

That's good.

I thought so as well. Didn't see the jitters from the previous games. More decisive. Used his speed and skills to get the puck, and often turned it the other way quickly with crisp and accurate passes. I think he's going to be a real asset sooner rather than later.

I would say Clifford and Nolan are gravy (justifying those shiny new contracts), but with the lack of scoring from the "scoring" lines, the fourth line is a godsend right now. Good for them.

OT: Why did the Carls Jr. commercial change the tomato? Was anyone really offended by a vegetable?

I noticed that last week. Some channels still play the original version. I have to laugh thinking about the people who wrote in to complain about the butt tomato, haha.

He was making accurate, tape-to-tape passes exiting his zone. Wasn't panicking and icing the puck which you usually see from Muzzin, Greene and Regehr.

Since we're on the topic of defensemen, I'm pleasantly surprised by McNabb's offensive output, especially given the his ice time and defensive partners for much of the season.

McNabb is currently the third leading scorer among dmen on the roster with 18 points. I looked at the point production of dmen who are 24 or younger who have amassed at least 900 minutes of ice time, and McNabb is tied with Ryan Ellis in production for players earning that ice time and age group.

He's also appeared in the most amount of games for dmen who meet that criteria. I think McNabb is slowly progressing to be something more than just a bottom pairing defenseman, and if Regehr departs this summer, he'll probably be the most natural fit to be slotted in his position.

Search for the Carl's Jr ad for the all natural burger. It goes very Austin Powers-esque with a lady walking down the street, appearing to be naked save for various objects blocking the naughty bits.

One of those objects was a butt-shaped tomato that conveniently covers the model's butt as she walks away from frame.

Sounds like they replaced that tomato in some versions of the add. My guess would be with a plain, non-butt-looking tomato.

Thanks for looking into this and posting. I find it interesting.

McNabb looks like he has the tools to be a pretty good NHL defenseman. He has definitely improved this season. You could call him the Kings most improved player even though he didn't play last season. He still has a ways to go but that looks like a good pickup by DL.

EDIT: I thought he played well with Sekera last night too. I know it's the Oilers but Sekera/Regehr was bad from the get go.
