Sounds to me like the KHL doesn't even know what is going on.

The KHL aint no KLF!

I have no problem with him staying in the KHL, or getting paid. Have to be patient with guys like these.

This sounds weird to say, but unfortunately for the Kings he just became to good to fast.

The CBA greatly limits what the Kings can pay him on an ELC, which would be a fraction of what he could make in Russia. The Kings would have to convince him to sacrifice three years of big money in Russia right now for potentially bigger earnings down the road on his second NHL contract.

And I think a bigger problem from a Kings standpoint is the lack of development by our staff. Odds are that if he's serious about playing in the NHL after that contract, the Kings may be unhappy with how he's developed.

This would be a huge blow.

For us? Or for him?

I largely saw him as a Radulov-like wild-card anyway. Not as stereotypically enigmatic, seems to be a good kid, but I figured he'd be either balls out for our org like Voynov or a KHL lifer. Starting to look like the latter.

I hate to throw out idle speculation but it really does feel like there's soMe sOrt of Bad force pulling at him there.

Seems like this was the plan all along with the way the initial article reads. Prohkorkin's agent probably knew his client wanted to stay in the KHL, so pit the KHL and NHL (Kings) to get leverage on the CSKA team to come to the negotiating table on a huge salary increase. The part i find dishonest and shady is Prohkorkin's agent seemingly sold Futa/Yannetti and DL down the river on wanting to be in the NHL if this 3 yr contract offer is true. I can see the Kings altering the way they handle Euro draftees cause of this.

No room for him in the NHL this season, questionable if there's any spot for him on the roster next season as well. At this point, consider him as possibly an attractive asset that could be moved if the team is looking to make an upgrade at the deadline.

And that's what I think the driving force is behind this. I see it as he feel's he should have a spot, and doesn't want to, like Lombardi say's, "pay his dues" down in Manchester. That can't sit too well with Lombardi.
Didn't he say somewhere that he want's to play center? Well, when you have Kopitar, Carter, Richards and Stoll, you don't have much of a chance.

With.. Thought he wanted to come to the NHL... I think mob got involved.. Lol

I think a lot of these kids are very ignorant about the harsh financial reality of the NHL for guys on ELC's. He very well may have wanted to chase his dream until he found out what he would be passing up in Russia, 7 figures, mostly tax free (I believe) and I think many players in Russia have their housing situations taken care of as well, which is a big deal because Russia is one of, if not the most expensive city in the world to live in.

If he comes over he gets a max 925k salary if he plays in the NHL, that dips below 6 figures if he plays in Manchester, and playing in the AHL is not exactly the best situation.

I find it hard to fault anyone who isn't willing to pass up the guaranteed money in their home country, now if he is playing both sides against each other well then screw him, but we don't know that is the case.

That's the thing with some Russians, yes I said some because not all are the same, they play the game for the big payday, and they can now get that with the KHL. But there are some that will come over and take the time to develop in the ECHL or AHL to get to the NHL because the Stanley Cup is what they are after. That's the ultimate goal for them. Voynov, Loktionov, and Kitsyn are players that want the latter. Right now, it's looking like Prohorkin has been playing the game looking for the big payday.

Let him have his money. We will enjoy the players who want to win.

The weird part about this is why would he play in Manchester during his short stint if he was just looking for a pay day. I'm almost fully convinced that he was in it for the money after hearing about this potential 3 year deal with Moscow, but it seemed like he was willing to come over if he was playing in Manchester not that long ago.
