Sounds to me like the KHL doesn't even know what is going on.
The KHL aint no KLF!

Starting to wonder who is pulling the strings.

This sounds weird to say, but unfortunately for the Kings he just became to good to fast.
The CBA greatly limits what the Kings can pay him on an ELC, which would be a fraction of what he could make in Russia. The Kings would have to convince him to sacrifice three years of big money in Russia right now for potentially bigger earnings down the road on his second NHL contract.

This would be a huge blow.
No room for him in the NHL this season, questionable if there's any spot for him on the roster next season as well. At this point, consider him as possibly an attractive asset that could be moved if the team is looking to make an upgrade at the deadline.
With.. Thought he wanted to come to the NHL... I think mob got involved.. Lol
I think a lot of these kids are very ignorant about the harsh financial reality of the NHL for guys on ELC's. He very well may have wanted to chase his dream until he found out what he would be passing up in Russia, 7 figures, mostly tax free (I believe) and I think many players in Russia have their housing situations taken care of as well, which is a big deal because Russia is one of, if not the most expensive city in the world to live in.
If he comes over he gets a max 925k salary if he plays in the NHL, that dips below 6 figures if he plays in Manchester, and playing in the AHL is not exactly the best situation.
I find it hard to fault anyone who isn't willing to pass up the guaranteed money in their home country, now if he is playing both sides against each other well then screw him, but we don't know that is the case.
That's the thing with some Russians, yes I said some because not all are the same, they play the game for the big payday, and they can now get that with the KHL. But there are some that will come over and take the time to develop in the ECHL or AHL to get to the NHL because the Stanley Cup is what they are after. That's the ultimate goal for them. Voynov, Loktionov, and Kitsyn are players that want the latter. Right now, it's looking like Prohorkin has been playing the game looking for the big payday.
