Some of our fans will hate the deal. Most other fans will hate this.

But compared to getting Brouwer, Backes, Okposo and Eriksson I'll take it.

A player who cites McDavid and being "loyal to Peter" as reasons for coming here is great too.

How long have we wanted Lucic in Edmonton? Now that it happens, tons of hate.

Edmonton has a hard hitter on every single line now. God bless.

Lucic has been someone I have wanted on the Oilers for years. Didn't think it would happen though. I'm happy.

Losing Hall hurts, don't get me wrong. But getting that boost on the back end (especially a RHD) plus a player like Lucic - who brings approx 3/4 of Hall's points but also brings MUCH more in terms of physicality could really lead the Oilers out of the basement. Finally.

Also people should keep in mind he could score even more playing with McDavid. Who knows he could reach 70+ points on a regular basis.

I'm stoked.

Hall for Lucic isn't a good deal. Hall for Larsson isn't a good deal.

But in the bigger picture, I think Larsson and Lucic for Hall and Nikitin (or whoever got bumped off our depth-chart on D) makes the Oilers a better team.

As well, Lucic fits the ongoing theme that Chiarelli has been developing here in that he brings in a lot more truculence (as Brian Burke would say). Unlike some of the other guys Chiarelli has brought in, Lucic can bring that edge to our top line. After years of being the league's 97 pound weaklings, I'm glad to see the Oilers bulking up in a big way.

Lucic has sometimes had problems keeping his cool on the ice. But as a guy who's probably going to spend a lot of time on the ice with McDavid, I think having that edge, that crazy-factor, in his game will be something that might make guys on the other team think twice.

Who cares about 2 years too much. Of course he and his agent knows it is a bit more than a team ideally would want, that is why they requested it. Lucic, Eriksson, etc are securing their last contracts and they will suck out as much as possible from them.

Anyhow, he could still be really good in 4-5 years and trade or keep might be valid options.

Brilliant day so far even though Campbell signed with CHI :(. I would have offered double for 1 year here...

I bet he has 60+ points next year. He also just turned 28 less than a month ago so he'll be 34 at the end of the last season.

So Button thinks this is horrible cause we have no D to get the puck to "a speedy Taylor Hall, speedy Connor McDavid and a speedy Jordan Eberle" Really???????? Maybe the guy who replaced Hall :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

It's free agency - of course it's too much money and term. But we can sit on the sidelines watch other teams spend and then wonder why we are bottom of the heap again, or we can be spenders too.

Maybe Looch can give some confidence / advice to other players. Larsson was a tough kid in the SHL. At 17 he fought a 32 year old Canadian. I have seen him fight a couple of times in NJ but not with great results. He has the strenght and will but lacks techinque imo.

This really is an abhorrent contract. Hopeful it pays off in the short term.

Money. Term. and the NMC.

Did Chia bother to negotiate? Or did he just fold like he did with the Hall/Larsson deal.

Limited no trade is so easy to work with. If the idea is to move him, they do it for whatever it takes. He started as a free asset.
And the signing bonuses are huge. Makes the cap hit big and the actual money small. The Carolinas and Arizonas in 5 years will be interested.

Yeah because Chai totally hadn't been shopping like crazy for a RHD since he was hired here. He just decided on a whim to trade for one.

Ya those details made a suspect contract even worse IMO.

Not good. But we needed the player. We were in a corner and needed to do what Lucic wanted to get the deal signed.
