London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

Sawyer Boulton's 7th suspension of the year he got 2 games (the minimum allowed) for slew-footing. Why he wasn't tossed from the league entirely by say... suspension number 5?!?! is beyond me. How he was handled was a travesty and he was a hazard to every opposing player he faced from about the midway portion of the year after he made his bed as to who he was and his intentions on the ice.

I cannot fathom the lawsuit the OHL would have faced had something like the Liambas hit (or worse) had happened. There's a strong case to be made that the OHL could be found criminally negligent in such instance.

SEVEN suspensions in the same season and the guy gets the minimum for the infraction.
You failed to prove your point. Kicking Boulton out of the league would have helped the Knights

Just a suggestion...but why not focus discussion on all the things this team is doing well, including room for improvement, trade talk, etc. instead of visitors to this thread constantly shifting the narrative to Boulton and judging the adequacy of the length of suspensions? Again, just a suggestion. I wouldn't frequent another team's thread to serve as the moral police to highjack discussion, but have at it...

rve24 I fail to see what's funny about this. Please elaborate.

Your obsession lately with the topic n your bad example. It's the OHL, trying to find reasoning in penalties, suspension length etal is a fools game. That's why the chuckle, maybe start a separate thread about officiating and the league office. I'm sure many would appreciate the seperate topic.
The example you brought up was an auto suspension and a slewfoot deemed by the league to not be a malicious attempt to injure. So he got his spanking. And so e felt so e ofvthecesrkier sudoensuons wrre too long. I'm not judging either way before you claim I'm defending anything lol.
And to your point LK benefitted last year.....many would disagree with the length of some of the suspensions to all knights players, esp in POs but I'l leave that debate up to you and the others as I don't whine about stripes, I don't try and find reasoning in how the league does out suspensions. It's a fools game.
Clear enough? Carry on.

Out of respect to nelli I'll let it go after this. Sawyer's mere presence allowed the Knights to play "bigger" than they were. The Rangers were never going to beat that team, but concussing 2 top 4 d-men without fear of retaliation ensured that (Boulton not responsible for either). He certainly did serve a purpose, and I feel did help the Knights. Enough talent to win with 3 lines, and the 4 shift boogeyman.

And now the admission for the obsession. At least we finally got there.

Regarding this team there are still improvements to be made. What an awesome start though. Very impressive. Good depth.

Yea no thanks. Rather keep him, not even sure they have anything to offer. We can really use during world juniors
For his sake, I’d like to see Bidgood back in the OHL on another team as there’s no room in London at full strength. Or perhaps they’re waiting for next year when all the 05 forwards graduate. Regardless, I think he’s proven worthy of an OHL spot right now.

I’d be ok with giving up Bidgood if we get the same or around kind of the value we got for Blake Arrowsmith. Bidgood for the Pete’s would also be good for them. Someone that works their butt off.

I doubt we are gonna get Blake Arrowsmith value so I would keep him.

On a positive note, I love how have Cowan and Halttunen out has allowed the rest of our team to gel somewhat and they have finally been able to step up.

Don’t look now, but BMO is a PPG player, Read and Hawery are gaining confidence and taking a step, O’Rielly is finally putting up some points, and Barkey is back!

Decision-making needs improvement from some players like Brz, Dickinson etc but im happy with them. We are gonna need that secondary scoring come playoffs.

It will be interesting come WJC, but we our depth at D will be tested. I really really hope Mark addresses it and get Andrew Gibson. That’s all I want for Christmas.

Get the big D before WJC that would be the early Christmas gift

All, this team is quite good.

It's too bad they are going to lose all the guys for WJ's or they would have a really good shot at breaking the all time record. Maybe they still will! I just think it will be tough with all those guys gone to keep it going.

Speaking of that, does anyone know when those guys will be leaving?

I think the Canadian Boys leave after the Owen Sound game (they would leave on Friday). They may be able to stay for the Oshawa game but unsure.

The Finns usually leave on the Monday but because we have no weekend games they could maybe leave earlier.

Don’t quote me on this but I was told to expect Easton Cowan and Bonk to miss 9 OHL games if they go all the way to the Gold Medal Game.

Do you think Barks has proven himself to the Canadian WJC brass?

With the way he is playing I gotta think Dickinson is a lock for the WJC

I think Barkey will get an invite to camp for sure, then it is up to him to earn a spot in camp. Going in to camp, to me he is a fringe player for the roster, so a good camp will earn him a spot.

Dickinson would have to have a really poor camp to not be there, in my opinion.

WJC should be:

Canada.
Cowan
Bonk
Dickinson
Barkey

Suomi:
Halttunen
Nurmi

Which leaves:
Van Gorp O’Reilly Sim
Montgomery Nichol Julien
Van Bommel Read Hawery
Boulton/Bidgood

Woolley Brzustewicz
Jenken Fagan
Spencer Mitchell

Medvedev Elliot

That roster should keep winning, they have played the majority of the last three games just fine.

It would be so cool to have all 4 London Knights on Team Canada (Bonk, Dickinson, Cowan, Barkey), and the Halttunen and Nurmi and the rest of the Finns facing us in the Gold Medal Game.

Cowan
Bonk
Dickinson
Barkey

Offensively this team should be fine, it’s the mistakes that will be made by our young Knights players that make us weary of our streak. But such is life.::
