True. I don’t hate a checking line either but the guy is off the rails this season. Put Aboflan in his place when you want some grit on the 4th line.

You're missing the checking line idea. It's a shutdown line. One thst gets PT and lots depending on matchups, not a 4th line used for energy thst gets little PT some crunch time ( unless it's a 4th line like Horvat/Tierney/Anderson......correct me if memory slipping)

He hurts the team way more than he helps. There are other players who did not dress tonight who would bring more value.
Read and Hawery will be rested, and definitely bring more skill. They should be in the lineup tomorrow with Elliot getting the start.
Nice to have the extra bodies when you're playing 3 in 3.
Dickinson: 6 points (1G, 5A)

I meant more along the lines of a “shutdown” line. He’s always worried about trying to stop the other team’s best player - it kind of handcuffs the team into an automatic defensive game instead of letting your skill players force their will on the other team. Tonight notwithstanding. But it sure as heck didn’t do them any good last June.
Interesting perspective and no right answer. It's situational and why coaches get the big bucks n short shelf lives unless you own it lol.
Vs Niagara after 1 game in the OHL finals the message was shut D Hamilton down immediately, often, attack, no space.....and they went on to roll the next 4 games.
I'm a fan of forcing pace n play (but not always Hunters style to say the least) but also appreciate those who sit back n make the fewest mistakes also win most often.

They are aggressive on the PK/PP and situational 5 on 5

Can’t stand him, but would love him on the Knights lol
Nope. Leave his BS elsewhere regardless the talent.

This I can't understand. The Boultons have none of the talent, but really are there only to cause BS (just a different type of BS). Yet you continue to defend Ryder this year? I can't wrap my head around that "logic".
I continue to defend him? How many times? Seems your exaggerating here.
I admitted to not seeing the play.
I said if he goes across the line he should face the consequences. Didn't defend anything lol.
Also said teammates appreciated his brother doing the same last year.
Not condoning his or anyone's actions, just saying teammates may ( and do ) appreciate it.
ZP actions I got no time for. The fakeness, looking to stripes for help, spitting at players, whinning.......just not my cup of tea. Once, twice, three times sure i got room to say theyll grow out of it......If he did it as consistently as he does while wearing GnG I'd call it out. also. His record speaks for itself. No time for that type player myself.

How about Montgomery tonight he’s getting better every game and what about Van Bommell he looked great tonight , speed , for check he needs and deserves more ice . I can’t believe Kasper gets 5 and s game , cmon , like those bad from behind checks happen every game. should have been 2 that’s it . They also let Barkey get run over by another player in the first letting the Saginaw guy skate in and score . Should have been an easy interference call ,then we should have a had 2 on 1 but Parkeh took out Julian when he didn’t have the puck in tbe second period. Those refs sucked

Maybe, and others agree with you, but I'm not one of them. Having him as a 12-14 F on a squad doesn't hurt the team. If out, he can be replaced easy.
Just like his bro, he pays the toll for how he plays and rightfully so, but Sawyer didn't hurt the team last year in spite of claims he did (in fact players said he helped - and they won the OHL title)
Baby Bolts same thing imo. If he crosses the line he should get the hammer, but he isn't hurting the team now.
So it was Parekh he slashed?
Sounds like defending him here.

And Sawyer never really "paid the toll". On his 7th suspension of the year he still only received the minimum 2 games required for a slew foot. Supplemental discipline in regards to Sawyer last year was an absolute mockery in regards to a repeat offender.

Nope didn't defend his actions, said he should pay the price, but ok. Even said he should get the hammer if crossing the line but ok lol.
Said he didn't hurt the team and he hasn't (same as Sawyer....they won the league title)
I'm not in charge of league discipline. Sawyer got what he got for the slew foot you mentioned ( an automatic and league decided that was the price) . Others think he got screwed in other suspensions so there is that side of the fence you ignore.
I don't get into it, Is what it is. Cross the line, pay the toll. Whatever toll the league sets. I'm not a ref/ league suspension whiner either way ( for or against my team )
That isn't defending either player.

Tonight’s game was a 6-2 win going away that turned into a 6-5 game due to an unnecessary and undisciplined penalty. I don’t see the value in that. Sorry. And I am not a Boulton hater I just would like to see him excercise better judgement.

Did you see the play? Can you provide context on the play/game. It may provide clarity for me.
Didn't see it as I said. Can't comment other than it didn't hurt the team as they won. I'll agree we could all use better judgement at times.
Emotionally......
Maybe it helped as the 19 other skaters were sick of ZP shi.....
Maybe it hurt cause they think it let Saggy back in the game.......
I dunno, but if you do please let us know.
But it didn't affect the 2 pts

Takeaways for me. Not that anyone asked.

Van Bommel has improved his game to the point where he’s making East-west plays. Much more confident this year and I give him a ton of credit.

Not that I’m correct, but in my opinion, rostering the the Boultons the last two years is ludicrous. Look it, I love this organization and the OHL and have nothing but respect for the London staff. And no, Ryder didn’t lose the game for London tonight, but that doesn’t mean it’s an endorsement of his asinine play. Remember, actual draft eligible talent (Arrowsmith) is consistently sitting. Does anyone really think that is the best decision for the club or Arrowsmith? If I’m Arrowsmith’s advisors, I’m asking out of London immediately if they haven’t already. As for Sawyer, well of course his teammates are going to defend him. That doesn’t mean they are correct in their view that he tangibly helped the team win a championship last year. (Hint: he didn’t). Maybe they felt ‘safer’ with him in the lineup but what the heck do you need to feel safer for? You afraid one of the opposition is going to take liberties with you in the hot-as-butter soft league? It’s 2024, you simply don’t need the sideshows anymore.

Another takeaway - I’ve said this a few times but the composition of London’s team is less than ideal. I know faceoffs are overrated, but after watching Beck, Sapovaliv, Hay dominate them last year, you cannot tell me that it didn’t impact their Memorial Cup win. And faceoffs are just a tiny snapshot of what the centers are responsible for. You typically need 2-3 good or great centers to win in this league!

On the topic of centers, Julien has got to be better. He is an overager now. Should be one of London’s better players but for the majority of his ice time, he’s a no-show. I’m sorry, but it’s true. I’m thinking if there’s any Josh Bloom type acquisition that Saginaw made last year sitting in pro hockey as a junior overager, I’m all over that if I’m London. I’m sure they’re exploring all options, as any responsible front office would.

Dickinson took less risks today and was unbelievable. I do not, for the life of me, understand how Calgary decided ZP was a better pick than Sam. Antics aside.

Sorry for the soapbox post. Blast away. Words don’t hurt me as much as the OHL thinks it would.

I did see the play. He slashed Parekh in the rib area hard enough to break his stick and then hit him a second time. While I agree there is frustration on behalf of opposing players with Parekh’s antics on the ice there are better ways to deal with it than what Boulton did with the slash. On that note let’s move on. We can both agree and disagree on the value of a player in different circumstances.

I would absolutely hate if Parekh was a Knight. He is an embarrassment to the OHL with all the diving and antics.

Mark my words, he will not have a career in the NHL if he keeps that up.

When Parekh lands in the NHL the other teams will eradicate his antics from the game. It's too bad he resorts to that stuff because he doesn't need to.
In the meantime I'm enjoying the Knights beating Saginaw a lot more than I should.

A dominant game turned into a gong show. My fist look at the boulton slash I say him make contact with ZP stick and then the blade caught him up high. I thought it was a penalty but not that egregious.

The Halttunen call should have been 2 for interference, nothing wrong with the contact just did not have puck possession.

A win is a win. Let’s close out a perfect weekend.

We gotta figure out a way to impose our physicality on Saginaw next time we play them without getting majorly penalized (which seems to happen every time) no way that should have been a 1 goal game. We let them back in.

Agreed Ottawa will be motivated coming off a loss

The Knights Facebook page is usually littered with the "rah rah our team cannot be beat" rhetoric and screaming that the league is against the Knights. The post on last night's game is full of negative comments about Boulton. That should tell you something...

Never seen the page myself. Not sure how much it would tell me based on how you characterized it on the whole.
