If you have fired up everyone on the shop floor and they are working twice as hard to avenge the wrongful decision against you, then you are extremely effective. Leadership comes in many forms.

Leadership doesn't come from repeat bonehead decisions that cost your team in the past.

While running errands this morning I noticed in both TD and Rexall signs posted indicating that aggressive or abusive behavior towards their staff will not be tolerated. It's become a societal problem and needs to stop, everywhere.

I know what is said on the ice by both players and officials alike, and if we are calling this a "bonehead" decision by Sim and the league is going to police the actual rules for every player equally then the benches will be empty most nights.

This is a league vendetta against a player at this point. Just like how Zac Rinaldo would get a "Moutguard Violation" every time he chewed on his mouthguard. Yet somehow Marner never got one....hmmm

Boulton tried to end a players career by elbowing him in the face as he is laying on his knees and defenseless, and get a 2 gamer. Yet the league PREACHES they are doing there best at taking head shots out of the game?

Hurt someone's feeling and you get a 5 gamer, like really that is the hill we are going to die on at this point?

Montgomery added to Knights website roster. Halttunen still on it with strong rumours he is coming back as soon as end of week. So which of your top 9 goes to fourth line?

We need to remember to distinguish between jokes and seriousness, and not jump to conclusions without considering the whole situation. One kind of facts could be poison to another, what is bread to one could be poison to another.

100% this.

Because "back in my day" happened doesn't mean it was right or should be ignored today. We can go back in time to a number of things that society deemed acceptable and are not today. The evolution of a better society does not mean the "p***yfication" of society. It means that we accept people as people no matter their background. Failure to accept people as people means a person has not evolved.

This reminded me of a funny story once told to me by the late, great Kelly Thomson. The boys were out really late one night past curfew, and they all got caught. Not 100% sure who all was there, but Thomson & Perry were there for sure.

Branks got all of the offenders to the rink very early the next morning and bag skated them hard... well.. all of them except Perry. Thomson complained to Branks asking why Perry wasn't participating in the skate. Branks' answer? " You put 40 in the net you can do what you want as well"

Bottom line, favoritism has existed since the beginning of time. Is it right? Nope, but it's there. Does anyone seriously think that the first period of the first exhibition game is going to get officiated the same way as game 7 quadruple overtime of the Stanley Cup finals?

Do something stupid, learn from it and move on. Failure to learn from it and be prepared to suffer the consequences

There are 36 players on the ice and 4 officials. If 35 of those players and 4 officials stick the fork in the socket and NOTHING HAPPENS, chances are that nothing will happen when you do it. Unless someone turns the power back on.

So please explain why the 35 other players on the ice get away with exactly what Sim does not? I have heard a lot players on all teams say the same things he has been suspended for, so hard to blame the kid for doing what everyone else is. I understand that if your caught once you are going to be looked at more closely in the future, but if guys are chirping at him what is he supposed to do. Tough to just be quiet and take it when your nature is to chirp back.

Because officials are human. They will never ever enforce the rules as evenly or consistently as people want them to. Whether its calling tripping or throwing people out for words said. It's just how it is. They always strive to be better at officiating but in the end people will never see them as "good" at it.

It has absolutely nothing to do with how "good" they are at it. It 100% has to do with personal bias. The word p***y is said 35-50 times a game with the official standing right in the middle of the scrum listening to it. No excuse to choose to punish one player over the others other than personal bias.

If you are going to put out a statement on your website that states what it does, than your officials DO NOT HAVE THE CHOICE to pick and choose when it is governed. They just made a mockery out of their officiating crew by putting this statement out.

I wrote at the time that keeping Sim over Leonard was a mistake. SIM took a stupid killer penalty in the Memorial Cup final. Not the leadership you want from an OA. If Haltunnen is returned, I would target an OA dman, maybe a bit better offensively than Leonard to partner with Brust. Thinking a Jacob Graves type.
Just wanted to add, Sim does add a lot to a team. But when the bad only balances out the good, is it worth it?

Role of taking bad penalties? Seems Boulton can fill that role just fine.
The Knights have an abundance of talented forwards. They'll be fine. At this point, Read, Van Gorp, Nicholl are showing they deserve more ice time. If Haltunnen comes, the top 6 is full. An OA dman in the top 4 is more important than a 4th line forward. And Woolley is playing great, imagine him in the 3rd pair?

You've already said you don't know what exactly was said. So how can you claim that 35 other players "get away with exactly the same thing" ? Especially when you're not on the ice?

As with everything in life people need to control the controllables. Doesnt matter if it's hockey, working in a restaurant or teaching. Only you can control what you do. Blaming others isn't an option, it's a cop out.

So if we don’t have Sim. Who would be the agitator. He is the Rupert of this year. Unless we go out and get McCue from Owen Sound then the sim move would make sense. McCue can play a lot of roles… would thrive not being the go to guy hwre
