London Knights 2023 - 24 Season Thread (Part Three)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Scorers sheet on OHL website currently showing:
Simpson in, Sim in, Halttunen in, Gazizov OUT.
Saginaw missing (at least) Hay and Sap...

I thought Sim would be out for awhile... I suppose he could still be a late scratch, hope not.

S. Boulton also back in, Ryder out.

Looks like they have 19 names on the London side though, so I would assume, 1 scratch to come?

What a 1st period by the Knights. Fast, hungry and physical.

That would be the definition of jumping on your opponent. The Spirit did not show up ready… or atleast not ready for that.

He's fresh off a suspension for intending to injure a player after a goal. I'm sorry, I don't buy the 'clean hitter' line.

Sure it was shoulder to shoulder this time, but he's taking reckless runs at players whenever he can. It's not in the best interest of the league to have teenagers get concussions from a player who's making it his entire game. At least Ryder offers some redeeming hockey talent.

At the Blue line he stood the guy up when he dumped it in. Second hit arms down heat to chest. Poor Saginaw player instinctively goes after Boultim not realizing who it is. Give credit to Boultin he stops but could have killed him. One punch is not a fight and Saginaw player went after him that’s why he got 4 because it wasn’t a fight or it would have been a 5 and 2. Now let’s talk about the head shot to Sim…

So you're saying clean hitting should be taken out of the league then? Sure Sawyer can sometimes cross the line, and when he does he gets punished. Both of his hits tonight were clean as can be. Textbook hits. If you don't like it, the London Devilettes sometimes play on Fridays. Maybe that is more your speed.

Head shot on Sim should have been a major. Missed call.

Boulton just brings nothing else but open ice hits that--while entertaining--are extremely dangerous for the teenage brain. Hell, the would-be captain of this team had to quit hockey because of post-concussion symptoms.

I'm probably going to be accused of being soft or wanting hockey to be a non-contact sport, but I stand by my opinion.

Cowan outmuscling Donovan and doing circles around the Spirit got me pumped.

Watching a player taking runs at one of the most exciting players in the league does not. Boulton's second shift of the game (late in the second because he can't be trusted to be on the ice) saw him unable to keep up with the play and getting turnstiled by the Spirit no less than 3 times.

This is a player that has been suspended 3 times already this season. He's a goon, and I don't feel goons should be in the league anymore.

Again, I am not saying I want no contact in the OHL. Cowan outmuscling Donovan, Bonk's hipcheck, George's defensive boxout are all parts of the game that I love. I love Alec Leonard--another physical player--because it is not the only dimension of his game.

Did I miss something tonight. Our top pp goal scorer no longer on the 1st line pp. Is he being punished for his extra time away after the wjc.

Goals are part of the game and so are hits....goals can be big goals and hits can be big hits.

It was rolling before Cowan and Bonk re- joined and they slid right back in. Just saying.
