Love this addition. It’s like the Ruperts 2.0, gives the lineup more grit. Time to get some scoring now.
4th line will be hell to play against. These guys will bring the physical presence for sure!

I wish there was a cool high scoring free agent we could sign

Two Boultons?! Whoa! Should be interesting! Anyone know much about this kid?

Stats indicate he does not have the track record as a scorer
Stats certainly indicate something!

110 pims in 30 games last season and 49 in 10 this year. I think we know why this guy was brought in, To make sure, Cowan, Barkey, etc. feel protected. Even Halttunen, I have noticed in his few games seems to get easily rattled by physical play. He's big and strong enough to handle himself, but we need him on the ice.

Yes physical presence matters still here in 2023

Does Boulton get in the lineup tonight or this weekend?

These guys are killers!

Definitely a tough kid. Hopefully the hunters can teach him the fine line of being physical without being a goon. Here is a little teaser of what to expect

New enforcer in town

Definitely keep your head up against him. Even 4 seconds after you play the puck keep your head up. He doesn't even try to play the puck. Even if he has it he gets rid of it so he can reverse check you.
Unfortunately we don't need a player that will cripple the team with stupid decisions. Hopefully he plays on the edge without stepping over it too frequently

How can he play on the edge if he can't even see the edge? Every houseleague bantam league has a player like this who isn't even playing hockey out there, they are there for only one reason.

Maybe I am wrong, admittedly I've only seen this video.

Now to be fair, the video's purpose is to highlight his physical play.

With that said, you are probably right! lol

I don't think this was a good pick up. Mark signing his buddy's kid. He has no skill. He hits late. Will be frustrated in this league because it is faster. Will take stupid penalties and likely suspensions. Yes toughness is needed, but you have to be able to play the game too.
Is there a Boulton/Hunter connection?

This surprises me, I don’t see the upside here
He can hit...but in today's OHL...penalties are called because a hit is loud. I also don't really see much raw fighting talent...and even that is useless in today's game.

You can't keep the opposition intimidated with hired muscle in today's game...it just isn't a factor anymore

So, has anyone actually seen the kid play? Or are conclusions being made based on 1 video and the stats page? I'd be willing to bet at least 1 scout and probably Mark have seen him play more than once.

I don't get signings like this with limited cards
I believe with this signing and leaving a spot for Sim. The team is around the 24 "A" card mark of a possible 30. In previous years London ran into trouble because trades were made early into the season so they burned a bunch of cards. This year all the trades were done prior to game 1 so they should still have room if needed

The video shows the kid has an edge. That said this game is faster than most kids can keep up with making that big of a step

You still only get 30...they should be treated like gold

I agree with you about useless penalties, but let’s look at Xhekaj. That kid intimidated the opposition. …. Clearly he can play as well in that he’s an NHLer, but I do think physicality is still a major factor in jr hockey

My hope/anticipation is that we utilize 2-3 on trades and 1 more on a free agent.

Max McCue has figured out a way to play a very physical, yet effective game. It took him a while, but the playoffs last year and so far this year he has been very good without crossing the line.
