London Knights 2023-24 Season Thread (Part One)

Don’t under estimate the Petes. They still have a good team with a lot of talent with Owen Beck Connor Lockhart, Sam Mayer, Donovan McCoy and Connor Smith leading the way. Jax Dubois, Jonathan Melee, Brayden McCallum and Sam McCue have stepped up and have lead the offence. 1st round draft pick, Carson Cameron is playing like a veteran. They have a solid defence and good goaltending. They are a very confident group coming off their OHL championship win.
I'm actually hoping the statement game comes from the Pete's in this game and not the Knights

Leafs needed to get as close to the cap as possible before using LTIR to get the maximum benefit. Also need to sign Gregor who's there on a PTO. Now that the roster is official, Cowan will be sent back tomorrow and they'll sign Gregor with his vacated cap space. In the meantime Cowan got an extra practice with the big boys and the Leafs development team.

I'll be lurking this thread this year much like I did during Marner's D+1 lol, excited to follow Cowan's progress.

London is still #1 in the power rankings. Not sure if they should be though.

Not sure if london could/ should wait for cowan anymore. We need scoring help and probably sooner rather than later.

People are saying cowan will play for toronto tommorow although that could change.
:(
What!? No opening night lineups have him projected to play. Where did you see this?

I feel like they will wait till November to make a trade. Agreed it’s a good time to bring new guys in for chemistry reasons

feels like the knights were definitely hoping Copeland would be that guy to step up to gain that secondary offence but by the sounds of it, Juan has not worked out great with London (albeit only 4 games in) amidst waiver rumours as well. Copeland would be a good 2nd line LW for the Petes just saying

Lot more people are saying in on Twitter. It certainly is gaining traction. Wouldn't hold my breathe for cowan to be back here for a while. So I think it might be better if we got help sooner rather than later

London is first in their division and second in the conference. I wouldn't think there is any immediate need to pull the trigger on a deal. I think Mark can take the wait and see approach. As long as they keep collecting points he can continue to wait, hope Cowan is returned and then evaluate the group as a whole to determine what moves are necessary.

If they stop collecting points, it likely increases the urgency to do something.

It sounds like he's sticking in Toronto temporarily for Salary Cap shenanigans. They need his ELC to max out LTIR space when they put Muzzin and Murray on LTIR. He likely gets sent back to London when they sign Gregor. Shouldn't be much longer.

The #Leafs' opening-day roster: Bertuzzi, Brodie, Cowan, Domi, Giordano, Jarnkrok, Kampf, Klingberg, Knies, Liljegren, Marner, Matthews, McCabe, McMann, Minten, Nylander, Reaves, Rielly, Samsonov, Tavares, Woll. Injured: Murray, Muzzin, Timmins. Gregor signing to come.

My guess is it’s either Easton Cowan or Ryan Reaves as the healthy scratch.

They sure like to collect injured former Greyhounds.
