That's hockey politic nell27
I wouldn't have expected the league to come right out publicly embarrassing their own refs. They needed to show a reason for changing the rule on that Barrie/Oshawa incident, and this London goal could not have come at a better moment. They didn't even say their refs were wrong in Oshawa, they just changed the ruling, told everyone to move on.
They’ve thrown off ice officials under the bus before, but not their on ice officials.

If they thought it was a wrong call they wouldn't have said anything. Even Falwell said everyone he spoke to said it was the right call and he dropped it. They had no reason to say anything, yet they confirmed it. And it was the correct call.

I don't think it's suspendable, unless it's been announced that Savard is out. Dangerous? Yup. Maybe 1-2 games in the regular season, but given that the league goes lighter in the playoffs I'm not expecting anything as I don't believe O'Reilly is a repeat offender.
They called it boarding, but to me this is about as textbook blindside as you get. Savard is aware of the Knight coming from his right and shovels it back around, then pushes off with his right towards the corner. O'Reilly staples him on the back of his left shoulder pasting him into the glass. Sure looks suspendable to me especially with injury on the play. I'd expect (hope) 1-2 games.

I kind of agree with you, but still hate it

London will pick a defenseman, there are too many good one left to pass on one

Is it just me or do others think that if London is on the PP and Bonk is in front of your net you may want to stick awfully close to him? I mean how many times is this kid going to score from there until someone says “enough”? Hopefully not until after we win the Memorial Cup of course but it seems somewhat obvious what we are trying to accomplish? LOL

Feeling good! Well I’m 2 for 3 in the last drafts. Just didn’t see us drafting William Moore last year. But I got Logan Hawery and Luca Testa right!

Logan Hawery, F, Barrie Colts
After a successful season playing U16 as an underager last year, Hawery came into the season already as a highly touted prospect and getting him outside of the top 10 is great value here for Ottawa. Hawery is a powerful skater with an explosive stride, good body control and he plays the game with good pace. He maintains his speed with the puck on his stick and can make plays extremely quickly. He possesses a lethal shot with a quick release and good accuracy, and he has terrific vision, using fake shots to stall goaltenders before dishing it to teammates for easy goals. Hawery is also a hard working player that loves to compete. He projects to be a first line goal scoring centreman with solid playmaking ability who can play on your first powerplay unit at the next level. He’s a player that has the ability to step into the lineup full-time as soon as next year.

I want the Knights to draft Caleb Mitchell. He is a man and already strong enough to play in the OHL. Might have to take him with the second pick, but if we get him in the 3rd that would be awesome!

Logan Hawery – Forward, Barrie Colts

Logan is one of the most complete and highly skilled centres in this year’s Priority Selection.
He has an extremely high hockey sense and rarely makes a poor decision when he has the puck on his stick. He is very creative when he has the puck, but is also smart enough to just make the safe and simple play when it is called for. He pays attention to details in all three zones and is extremely responsible in his own end. He is versatile and can play all three forward positions very well and plays with an edge. He is both an elite playmaker as well as a dangerous goal scorer. He has been a big part of his team’s early success and I am sure his play will continue to lead his team in the second half.

Impressive!

Just curious on Mitchell, you say he is already strong enough for the O. Listed at 5’9 155 doesn’t exactly scream big strong guy, obviously still young not a knock. Just curious with your take on what makes him ready?

I am not one to watch prospects, so I am not being a jerk on your evaluation, just genuinely curious because they picked him lol.

Caleb Mitchell, D, Peterborough Petes U16
Date of Birth: Mar 17, 2008-16 yrs Old
Position Defence*Left Shot
Height 5'9" / Weight 154 lbs / 70 kg
Place of Birth Omemee, ON, CAN

Mitchell was a steady presence on the backend for Peterborough throughout the year and provided consistent offence from the blueline. He was able to start transitions with his feet and got going in a hurry or send out a nice stretch pass covering multiple zones. His poise and control with the puck at the offensive blue line was solid, keeping his feet moving and using his edges to open up shooting lanes or fake a shot and drive down the boards and towards the net. In his own zone, Caleb used his skating ability to match the speed of incoming forwards and keep a good control of his gaps, allowing him to step up and knock the puck away from his man, or force them to the outside into low danger areas. Caleb has the tools and ability to succeed at the next level and could be an impactful offensive defenceman.

A combination of OHL combine results that showed his physical conditioning was the best out of the OHL prospects and scouting reports with a strong game offensively and defensively.

Reminds me of PJ Fagan or Jackson Edward…. I know Fagan is only 6ft and just getting started, but he’s got the same potential. His floor is like an Alec Leonard. Just a good defenseman

Looks like he's a good skater and has a nice understanding of the game.
