Julian is the type of player that could have a huge season. Don't forget he has only played 1.5 years at this level. Add to that he played 80+ games the last two years and only 46 & 41 the years before. I'm not surprised that he tapered off as the season went on, but if he can add some weight to his 6'4 frame, he could be a problem this year for a lot of teams to matchup against.
Fair points. Wouldn’t you rather trade the “could be” and stick with what is? Still think they’re better options at OA. However if he is one of the 3, I hope you’re right and he continues to grow and develop.

edit.

It'll be interesting see what the options in house are for OA come Sept. Then the debate starts.

Listen I understand that Mark has a lot of unknowns to deal with.

-will Cowan make the Leafs
-will the Sharks send Halttunnen to the AHL
-will Dickinson make the Sharks
-will NYI send Nurmi to the AHL
-will Julien make the AHL/get signed
-will Gazizov make the AHL/play pro hockey
-will Bonk and Barkey get an extended look at the Philly camp
-will Willmore be suited for the starting role
-has Leonard fully recovered from his injury

Some other things:

-What type of step will players like Nicholl, O’Reilly and Van Gorp take?
-does Johnston solidify a spot
-where do Fagen, Mitchell, Hawery, Arrowsmith, Bidgood, Mews, Medvedev and Wilson slot in?
-any training camp surprises
-does Brzustewicz take a large step and get into the NHL draft conversation of being a 1-3 round pick?

I agree with many here that we need to see how the dust settles out and what the team truly looks like in October/November before making large moves. My only thing is that the West seems pretty open for us to be a contender again. There appears to be some form of a good core coming back to build around so it shall be a very exciting season.

I see the Spencer trade as insurance incase someone doesn't come back.
He adds much needed size. He said he recently tested and came in at 6"5 220 he will look nice next to Woolley imo.
I see the Das

Dickinson Bonk
Woolley Spencer/Brzustewicz
Leonard

As for OA Leonard might be the odd man out.

Anyone know anything about Gleb

Elite Prospects has him on next year's roster

Insurance incase Halttunen doesn't return

Agreed. Seems like good insurance, but likely would be raw (similar to Gaz in year 1)
