Burnett on Samorukov injury from Lochead hit: "I know the skin from his forehead is up over the top and it doesn’t look very good."

Ryan Pyette‏Verified account @RyanatLFPress 17m17 minutes ago
Guelph GM/coach George Burnett said Storm F Keegan Stevenson is done for the year with a dislocated shoulder after being hit into the end boards.[/QUOTE

Back for one game and now blockhead will be gone for a while longer.

Capped off the night for me after raaymakers stellar goaltending display.

This is pretty absurd. I don't think I've seen a 1st place team just collapse like this. We've seen contending teams in London go through rough patches but really nothing like this.

7-3 loss to Guelph

By the time the five minute mark showed up on the clock in the second Guelph had 8 shots on net and 3 goals in, London had no shots and no goals during that same time. It's not too complicated if the players understands it, when a team push hard like Guelph did at the start of the second, you as a team must go deep within and find that same energy to match your opponents strive for strive. That did not happen, Guelph picked it up a notch and London just laid down and play dead, they have done this pretty darn near every time their opponents raised their game for the last 4wks now. The result is another loss, if London had picked up their play Guelph would not have scored 3 and London could have score 1 of their own or even 2, so important to stay with your opponents to match their intensity.

Haven't seen the replay of the Lochead hit, so I'll reserve judgement until I do. If it was indeed a high hit, do the crime do the time. I do question why there was no call on the head hit on Boqvist in the 3rd period. Regardless of doing damage, a head hit is a head hit

London flat out stopped skating last night. They were running good in the first but that late goal by the Storm seemed to rejuvenate them. Too many cute passes and pass attempts on the PP and on rushes.

Only plus I can take from last night is the PK looked good on the 5 minute kill. Other than that...same old same old and it's really becoming tiresome to watch

Can a ref be suspended?

From that angle looks like a good hit. He will still be suspended because its the OHL and he has a bit of a history. ( Based on the Rupert-Jones scale I will call it a ten gamer maybe reduced to 8)
The no call of the hit on Boqvist was embarrassing but again OHL officiating so take it for what it is. Somebody needed to push back in that game Guelph was just running around all game.

We have just lost Lochead for 15-20 games, we wont see him until the second or third round if at all. That was a nasty hit to the face/head and in my opinion looked deliberate. Lochead saw Samorukov had his head down and he took his opportunity for the big hit, he even took a few steps before he made contact. Plenty of time to back off or hold back to adjust his hitting but he didn't

Did you look at the video I posted?

Yes I have, right shoulder to the young man's face and bringing up his right elbow under his chin for good measure just like I used to do myself in my old days many moons ago, lengthy suspension for sure

Shoulder is not on his face. It's on his shoulder, and elbow is on his chest

Watched the video a number of times and you really can't tell either way from most angles - what I will say is the hit looked more like a blind side type hit but again the player was looking down so left himself some what vulnerable. I think this is a tough one to call and just have to wait and see what the league thinks of it. League looks at injuries as well so this will also be a factor.
Don't think Formenton intentionally clipped Stevenson but there was definitely skate on skate contact.
