I wouldn't be too worried about that. Leafs have depth bottom six depth and many Marlies that will deserve a look in a pinch (D'Amigo/Ashton/Hamilton). Worst case, in the shortened season there are many players out of work that COULD be signed if necessary...not making 4.5M.

I don't see how this opens up space for kadri?? Mac and Connolly need to be shipped out for Kadri to have a spot. At least one of them.
He's pretty much in the same position as last year (by the number of forwards, Kadri impresses much more this year though). We lose Lombardi but we sign McClement.
Still, McClement>>>Lombardi for their prospective roles.

wish lombardi the best in PHX. Man, you guys are hard on the guy. He's coming off a season where he missed the entire season prior and had concussion issues.
The reason is we're crowded up front, and out of everyone on the team, Connolly and Komi are the two guys who have played the furtherst under their contractual expectations.
I, however, am with you. First and foremost, I think it could be a somewhat injury plagued 48 games, and having some extra depth could come in handy.
Besides that, I think Connolly can still be a great player, I just don't think he fit well at all last year. He may not fit well again this year either, but I'd love to see a third line of Connolly, Kadri, and Macarthur, all of whom seem to have more of a possession oriented game, and are all crafty, shifty, good puck handlers, and make excellent use of space in the offensive end.

Yea. People are pretty ruthless. But on HF Boards, you can trade your best offensive player the season he finishes 6th in the league in scoring.
I was a fan of Lombardi and he never had a spot when he came to this team and they forced him into something he wasn't.
Think we can get a conditonal third round pick (second if re-signed) for Connolly and 6th round pick for Steckel? Then a conditional second round pick (first if re-signed) for MacArthur?

Let's not kid ourselves; the Leafs made up a 4th round pick here. Lombardi was a dump in a trade to acquire Franson.
The Leafs acquired Franson; dumped Lebda; opened a roster spot (Slaney) at the cost of taking on Lombardi. Lombardi had 0 value at the time (injured without insurance coverage). The 4th was to make up for balancing the acquisition of Franson.
When someone makes 3 to 4 million dollars a season we have the right to be hard on the guy. He had a whole season to prove himself but he couldn't. I understand he was off a whole year before but when it comes to professional sports and the Toronto Maple Leafs you better show up and play well otherwise get the F out!!!!

he was fast without any purpose, there is no point in having a guy skating up and down without ever doing anything. it's like a glitch in nhl13 where your player suddenly starts skating at twice the speed of everyone else, you can't really use him anyway.
You do realize people say it as a play on words, because his biggest asset is his speed.. right?
Anyway, I wonder if the Leafs "bought" that condition with the salary they retained? Using our cash to our advantage oooo baby!
