9 pts in 4 games in laval. This is more than 2 pts/ per game
3 prs in 5 games in MTL.
He doesnt deserve to stay in Laval. Being him here, and we live with his weakness. I mean, we need to developp player this year.
I think Daniel Jacob is the right guy in Laval to help Logan refine his defensive game. He kills penalties, plays in key situations...why play him in what appears to be a very dysfunctional environment?

Once a player surpass the caliber in the AHL. He should play and learns in the NHL. I prefer Mailloux over Barron

I don't think Barron has done that either, but that's an entirely different subject...

Barron is waiver eligible though, otherwise he'd maybe be sent down.

Neither has Matheson ever either and look how well his career is going.

Pts>>D

The difference is that Mailloux is still young and his defensive game has been progressing. No need to throw him in a bad situation just because he's better than Barron.

Monitor him during the season and make the decision whether he finishes the year in Montreal closer to the TDL.

I think this is a position which Hughes could definitely accelerate.

Problem is, top 4 RDs are rare. No team is giving it away unless it's a firesale.
Trading Kovacevic was one of the rare poor moves from Hughes imo. Not a world beater by any stretch but there was a clear job for him this season and no rush to go the direction we took.

I would be interested in what posters on this site think-
Should the Habs have kept Kovasevic and traded Barron or vice versa.

Kovacevic wasn't much better than what Struble showed us last year at RD.

They weren't ready to trade neither Struble or Xhekaj.

And I think Hughes believed one of Mailloux or Reinbacher would actually make the line up.

I think the bigger issue is the decline of Savard. Him not being the stabilizing force he's been the past two seasons is hurting the team big time.

In reality there probably was no offer worth it for Barron e.g. they could have traded him away for what they got for Kovacevic but it wouldn’t have been worth it.

Mailloux's comments on the Habs systems are a red flag. Makes it seem like the coaching staff isn't communicating properly to the players. Add me to the group that think MSL needs an experienced assistant.
Interesting take

Being good offensively was never in question.

It's the defensive part of the game that has been his flaw even before getting drafted. He's gotten better at it though.

But, is he worst than Barron, i guess it's harder to wave Barron, same thing with Joshua Roy why keep Heineimen over him, if it would be Bergevin doing that most here would say he wants to justified his transactions

I almost agree with you but not having him in Montreal beceause of ''a very dysfunctional environment''......clearly demonstrate that there is a problem with the coaching staff in Montreal, it's crazy

It's not whether he is worse than Barron, it's the fact we have the option to keep developing Mailloux in the AHL and we don't have that option on Barron.

This is the last season to really evaluate Barron because it's unlikely Mailloux gets a 3rd AHL season and it's unlikely that Reinbacher will be down in the AHL long once his conditioning is back.

We have seen enough of Barron to evaluate him as far as i'm concern

Management patience is a lot longer than fan base patience and it should be.

A rebuilding team can't afford to let a young RD leave the team and not know what they have. That's an asset you can't let walk out the door.

Agree with the bolded, but they also have a responsability to recognise when they made a mistake and move on from it
