Yeah and the owners aren't using BS offers and refusals either? Please.

As a Leafs fan, you should be asking yourself one thing and one thing only:

Does free market competition benefit us or not, being the richest and most powerful single franchise?

They owners have been saying 50-50 since the 2nd offer... Players haven't even agreed to 50-50 till late in the game, even they know they would eventually give that.

but then again, I never said I was on the owners side...

I'M ON THE SIDE THAT GETS THE GAME BACK ON THE ICE....

why you care about a free market is beyond me... there will never be a free market ne more, your living a pipe dream. Wake up....

just asking, will it start at 72 mil as it is now or be lower?

Well the best I've heard was a 50/50 split, no? You could then account for a salary cap based on the NHL's financials. I dont know I dont read them. Dont care. Doesnt help the Leafs. I D G A F !

Much lower, there would be a substantial rollback which is why I'm on the players side.
so it looks like the players are going to lose money, so a year off does not matter to the players, they will lose money anyway over the ten years the owners want .

will the ticket prices go down by the same rollback?
or will the owners raise ticket prices and everything else?
and we have people on the owners side.

What's an average player career in the NHL though? Even Joey Crabb and Daniel Alfredsson is a NHLPA member yknow.

The players are under more pressure to break resolve because they aren't billionares with an indefinite controlling interest in their own income.

they stick together or they get rid of the union and go on there own. cant have it both ways.

The Kyle Turris story seems like BS. I don't for a second believe he'd say that, not in his character let alone worst guys than him to say that.

Untrue. Some players (short-term contracts, no-term contracts) want to play so they can get their payday and a better standard of living than theyd get if they waited a season (maybe two) and get old, forgotten, stale, and irrelevant. They want to play.

It's the players with the future in the league (long term contracts, skill, and potential) that need a better CBA and are willing to forfeit a season (maybe two) of pay to ensure a better lifelong income of contract pay and pension.

Problem is the players arent the billionares now are they? Owners will outlast in a standoff but not if the players turn to the courts y'see!

Go Leafs (Fehr) GO!

just asking, will it start at 72 mil as it is now or be lower?

Bettman was quoted that a NHLPA reduction to 50/50 split would set the new Cap ceiling at around ~$59 mil down from current $70.2 mil. (12% reduction).

Teams would be okay for the present season in transition to play at current rate, but next year all teams must get down to new lower rate.

So as far as the Leafs are concerned all that supposedly large free cap space next year that was expected due to expiring contracts will be eaten into significantly by the Cap dropping by over $10 mil.

Well could be worse. We could have Quinn's cap managed team going into a post-lockout season! LOL

Oh wait, he didn't drive us into the sewer of the NHL standings prior to managing that did he?

Another player displeased about playing overseas. Maybe the NHL isn't so bad after all.

What? They didn't get the All-Star treatment they all deserve in Europe? Who would have thought?

Maybe if the NHL can't get the 50-50 split they're looking for, they can just start cutting back on the logistic costs like transportation and lodgings, and start using Best Western motels, buses and economy class seats.

Let's just call it "culture shock".

All I know is that ticket prices didn't start to get ridiculously expensive until player salaries got completely out of control.
What came first, the chicken or the egg?

LOL you're talking about the guy that held out of Phoenix to get traded for half a year. You're joking right? Kids a baby.

how did the vote go ?
ive been losing interest rapidly)

They'll be voting for another couple of days. Funny how a country can vote in a new leader in 24 hours (if that) but 700 people require FIVE DAYS to vote via the INTERNET. Hilarious. Stall stall stall.

 So true.

Consulting agents and law firms and what not can take some time, you must understand.

So players can't make an informed decision for themselves? And they had no clue what stance they should take? There has been a lockout for 3 months now.
