I'm fully expecting a pick up of two centers before free agency.
I wonder how many centers will be chosen at the draft by the Habs ?

Still was completely unrealistic about what a trade down of two picks would get him.
It's true you can win without a "true" #1C.
But you can't win with an average #1C and a third-liner center on your second line. All teams who won the cup in the last 10 years+ all had two very good centers.
In my opinion, they rebuild, or they ****ing acquire Duchene and hope for the best in the next 2 years. Just trade Sergachev, I don't care.
Put Duchene on the first line, Galchenyuk on the second line and Danault on the third line.
Pacioretty - Duchene - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Galchenyuk - Radulov
Byron - Danault - Shaw
That would be a VERY good top 9. Yes, we won't have a "true" #1C, but at least we'd have a really good center depth and Danault is a machine on the third/fourth line.
Just trade Sergachev/Beaulieu and other prospects, I don't give a ****. We either don't do anything and lose, or at least TRY and perhaps win in the next two years. Or lose... but at least we'd have tried.

In terms of the center issue I would not have expected him to say things indicating he was desperate to now find a center as that would not be helpful in negotiating with other GMs.
Having said that, his answers were pretty bad and he could have answered them without sounding silly. On a positive note perhaps other GMs will think he is too stupid to realize how badly we need a center and maybe we can get a fairer deal.
Really disappointed in his disparagement of Chucky and Beaulieu. I really don't like it when management talks about it's own players like that ( even if thinking of trading a guy all you do is diminish his value ). Doing so and not mentioning Patches or other players who did not produce, I mean really bad, He also should have done an "It's on me " part deux for the lack of offence, instead of his throwing out lines of how we are fine offensively.

That's not funny! Bergevin made it clear he has a rather low opinion of Galchenyuk. That's ammunition for other teams for relatively low-ball offer sheets. It's not like he'd match everything.

Just listening to Bergevin talk about Price makes me think he'll hand out a blank cheque. I love Price but ask Chicago how those ridiculous contracts are helping them out.

My hope for Galchenyuk is that Habs go the Kadri way with him. Kadri has been struggling at center for years but he was kept there. Then, enter Babcock, a coach who was able to work with him and turn him into a complete center.
At this moment, I trust CJ to have the coaching abilities to do the same with Galchenyuk.
