This is why he was signed. I’ve been saying it all year but Swayman’s career high in games is 35. It would have been silly to play him 50 games + playoffs. It seems like he’s starting to slow down already and we can’t take that gamble of having something like him and Vladar going into the playoffs


That’s why we have Linus! All he does is win

He certainly looks different now beyond results

The tandem works well

I start Ullmark games in Toronto and you can switch to Sway if things go sideways

Toronto Is the new Montreal emotionally for me right now and it’s probably due to the off ice fans media

The Bruins are the opposite of Toronto

Stylistically How built but Bergeron & Marchand vs Matthews & Marner - the old guard vs the new

Can Toronto win - absolutely but I would put my money on Boston.

Regardless this isn’t Ali/Frazier or Patriots/Seahawks but it is pretty high on the list

Hopefully both teams are healthy and it happens first or second round

I'd still take the cap space with 2 cheap goalies and get a dman who would help those 2 goalies be better. Tampa couldn't find any daylight past Ullmark but Swayman would still my pick to start a playoff series

yes (I believe you meant "there"). I think the Bs picked up a great d man in Lindy. It is not like there were many to be had. I agree they need at least one more but they don't grow on trees.

The Bs (IMO) have had great goal tending for a number of years. You go no where if you don't have the net minders to get you there. I like both and feel some NHL teams don't even have one NHL caliber
net minder. Ullmark is better than some here thought he was.

Yah he’s a inner circle guy - Dunham was on Worcester watching Bussi not Bob.

The assembled group of Gold, Goalie Bob, Langenbrunner, Mike Dunham and young scouts added all put to rest the old boys network- although Kelly & McQuaid lol

While I appreciate that there is so much support for Ullmark and he was great against the Lightning… he hasn’t had a good season. The guy had a winning record and a .916 save percentage the last two years for a lowly Sabres team that was 20 games below .500. He comes to Boston and plays behind one of the best defensive units in the league, sees far fewer quality scoring chances against… and his save percentage drops and his quality start percentage is the lowest of his career.

I like Linus. I supported him during his time in Buffalo, thought he was the most underrated goaltender in the league. I think he’s helped the culture in the room and I like the tandem. But overall, he’s disappointed me this year. I thought I would feel a sense of confidence when he was in the net, but I don’t. When Ullmark has a great game, it feels more like a relief than an expectation. It shouldn’t - he’s better than that.

Meh he had a little bit of a rough stretch at the beginning coming back from the procedure this past off-season but he hasn’t disappointed me at all. I know for awhile he was facing tougher competition than Swayman too, I’m not sure if the last couple months impacted that or not though.

Idk guy just wins games. Gonna be hard to find me complaining about 23-9-2 with a .912. That’s worthwhile of the contract he got.

I also don’t believe this defense is as good as the numbers say they are, especially without Lindholm

I can’t think of a game we lost because of Linus. I can think of games where he hasn’t been good but those are also generally games most of the team didn’t show up for (for example, that Edmonton game in November)

You don’t think the defence is as good as the numbers say… but you would admit that it’s a lot better than the Sabres of the past two years, no?

For sure, different situations though. Probably a much easier environment to play in. No pressure, no real completion, no expectations there. He’s got all 3 of those things here and since that understandably rough start I must say I think he’s been damn solid

I guess it depends on your expectations- if you thought he was a dark horse for vezina then you may be disappointed. I just wanted a good goalie and I *think* he’s that. We’ll get a better grasp on that soon, that’s for sure

Yah I endorsed him and put my already sketchy hockey reputation on him but if I’m being truthful I was like wtf watching him those preseason and early games

I wasn’t exactly brimming with optimism then but he’s a legit good to very good goalie and great teammate and great half of this likeable Duo

I was firmly Swayman until a couple weeks ago. I’m not so sure now. Im comfortable with both guys but seeing Ullmark drop his nuts on the table and put in a performance like that, I probably lean Ullmark.

Pressure and expectations in Boston (even with a better blueline) makes him worse? That’s a critique of Ullmark, not a defence.
