I'd be shocked if he doesn't turn it around, but the question is when that will happen and if it'll be too late to make the playoffs this year.

The East is pretty competitive this year. Would be hard enough to make the playoffs getting league average goaltending. Zero chance if this continues for much longer.
For sure. The East being so competitive makes it both tougher, but keeps it closer, so pros and cons.

I still believe he can turn it around and they still have a shot to get right back in it, but the margin for error is thinning out quickly.

Ullmark being a primary reason the team sucks in November was not on my Sens Bingo:(

We can't score either, and Sanderson/Zub have been bad.

Like, everything that we should have been able to take for granted, hasn't happened.

I mean, going into the season I was sure about three things;
We solved our goaltending issues,
Sanderson would continue to establish himself as an elite Dman
and Stutzle would bounce back into a top tier #1 center

So far, two of my sure things are complete busts, I was also pretty damn sure Pinto would be on pace for more than 25 pts...

Ullmark hasn't been great but he really only cost us two games: Vegas and Philly.

Sens played like crap against Montreal, Buffalo and Edmonton, we likely weren't winning those games anyways.

If he stops bouchard, it's a different game. That goal was deflating. Huge blunder by chabot but ullmark looked caught.
He just didn't look good last night. Big rebounds. Clearly not confident.

Ullmark played well for Boston; but Boston had a coach who knows how and a team that knows how to play a solid defensive game. We don't!

We’re top 5 in fewest shots against per game and top 10 on fewest high and medium scoring chances against.

What does Ullmark need? Less than 20 shots per game all wristers from the point (although based on his play so far he might let those in too)…

Pretty much this.

The team in front of Ullmark has been doing their job in limiting shots. Ullmark, based off his pedigree should be able to handle the shots that get through and at least maintain a .900 save percentage

Swayman got the bag, he's been awful. Ullmark got the bag, he's been awful too. I wonder if either if these goalies in NHL regular, has been a few years since they both have carried the full load for a team.

First time seeing him live this year and he looked too deep in his net.

It will take a prolonged stretch of poor play for me to no longer be bullish on Ullmark. But he’s certainly got off on the wrong foot. Need some timely saves, and need him to win games that the team deserves to lose.

Also, wow did the entire defense play poorly last night, Jensen excluded. Yikes.

I mean Avs and Oilers are the only games where the defense legit played bad. The D had lapses against Utah and Canes, but overall still held the fort.

Goalie is all about the mental game. I'm sure both guys are feeling a lot of pressure with their new contracts and responsibilities, and sometimes that pressure can get to your head. Both just need time to settle into their new roles and they'll be fine.

While that’s true doesn’t take away from the problem. If the team played good, still would have lost the others with his performance.

The forwards not scoring doesn’t excuse the D and goalie from playing like crap. And vise versa. It’s the trend of performance and how each position puts us in a position to win or lose consistently. The trend with Ullmark is depressing for value earned based on contract dollars and reasonable expectations to be safely over .500 wins and .900 sv%.

Also agree Sanderson has been surprisingly ineffective even with a decent partner.

We're in this worrying position where we need to play him so he finds his game but he's never been a 60-70 game guy. But we're playing him at that rate right now.

I don't envy Travis Green trying to figure this out.

And sure, it's only been 2 games he's been a disaster in. That's 10% of our games so far this year though.

I'm optimistic he can turn this around and maybe Green can find some adjustments to better deal with his rebounds but I don't want this to be another year where we go "if only we had _________" and so far this year it would be goaltending. Most nights we play - the other goaltender is better. Several nights so far this year our goaltenders have been so bad they have been the reason we have lost. It's a frustrating situation to be in.

Ullmark is looking more like a bad backup goalie right now....but in his defence i think it is probably a culture shock coming here and seeing the softy tofty dmen that play in front of him compared to playing for a very physical team in Boston where he came from. Playing on a more physical team gives goalies confidence.
Right now he sees the easy path the opposing teams have to our net, and the lack of clearing the front of the net in front of him,and the lost puck battles in the corners by our dmen that lead to scoring chances.
