With Bertuzzi gone, Tre focusing on defense and a new coach, what will the team look like assuming we don't trade Marner?

Cowan - Matthew - Domi
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Knies - Quillian - Nylander
Dewar - Kampf - Jarnkrok

Rielly - Tanev
Benoit - McCabe
OEL - Lily

3C looks is very uncertain. Defense is what it is. Hopefully Lily can setup or maybe there's hope for Niemela. But OEL on the PP should hopefully make the PP less predictable. Having 2 out of 5 players on the PP being non-shooter (Marner and Rielly) was not great.

Not sure if Quillian is ready yet. Would rather let a few more depth guys take a crack at it first, such as Steeves or Abruzzese.

Also not sure if Cowan makes it just yet. Could be you put Steeves on the wing to start with.

I also wouldn't discount Robertson begrudgingly staying with the Leafs and playing at least the first part of the season on the wing.

Why you got Knies playing #1D with Rielly ;)

As of right now it seems....

Domi-Matthews-Knies
McMann-Tavares-Nylander
Robertson*(RFA)-Kampf-Marner
Holmberg-Dewar*(RFA)-Reaves
Jarnkrok

Rielly Tanev
OEL McCabe

Leafs center depth is a JOKE. Tavares is not cutout to play 3C minutes IMO forget about 2C minutes. Tavares should have shifted to LW already.

Next season is gonna be tough.

Boston
Tampa
Florida

IMO are ahead of Leafs in regular season, and in playoffs Leafs are looking at another 1st round exit. Leafs just couldn't score goals as Marner refuses to go into corners and to the net; and Tavares is so slow the puck is already moved to a different place by the time tavares arrives there as a center

Leafs PK was a JOKE and PP was even a bigger JOKE with so much money invested in forwards.

July 1st, as of 3pm EST this is how the roster stands.....

Not sure if you noticed, but you have Cowan on the first line. Should fix that.

We kinda need the highest paid player in the league to be able to play with a promising rookie and a playmaker like Domi. Joking aside, maybe we have Knies on that line, but the third line will be even weaker.

Like the D and goalies depth
Forwards will need a lot of work, really hoping the trades bc our forwards line are bad

2025-26 we can redo the 2nd line

Knies Matthews Nylander
_______ _______ _______
Domi Holmberg Jarnkrok
McMann Kampf Reaves

McCabe Liljegren
Reilly Tanev
OEL Hakanpaa

Woll
Stolarz

22m to spend on it.

Knocking on the door upon injuries:
F: Steeves, Minten
D: Niemela, Rifai, Webber

I see it more like this without more moves

Domi - Matthews - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Minten - Cowan
Holmberg - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Reaves

Start with Minten as 3C like last year, if he can't handle it then Holmberg probably goes there and someone replaces him as 4LW

If this is how it's going to be.. Marner back and no other moves made.... (yuck) then the team is banking on big steps from Knies and mini Eichel.

Domi/Matthews/Marner
Knies/JT/Willy
McMann/Holmberg/Jamtarts
Dewar/Kampf/Reaves
Steeves

It's not good as JT should be the third center. Domi can center the second line but you take away how good he was with Matthews.

So Knies could eb LW 1 and mini Eichel LW2. Holmberg LW3.

Whatever the lines are, I want the core four spread over three lines.
That would be tough I think. Tavares would be the obvious choice but they certainly don’t have a better 2nd line C to replace him with. Matthews will obviously remain #1 C so that leaves the two wingers. Nylander is just starting his horrible contract so they’ll want him in a position to keep his deal from looking even uglier. So that leaves Marner who is heading into a contract year and after watching Willie cash in on his contract year hero level effort and he will try his hardest to mirror it and I’m fairly confident he can fool future employers too. We might as well take advantage of what is likely to be his best effort yet and play him up the lineup.

Knies Matthews Marner
Holmberg Domi Nylander
Robertson Tavares McMann
Dewar Kampf Jarnkrok

*These lines will change when/if we add Skinner, Holmberg becomes 4th liner or 13th F. Cowan or Minten or Grebenkin have to earn their way on.

Rielly Tanev
OEL Liljegren
Benoit McCabe
Haakanpaa

Woll
Stolarz

Reaves, Timmins, and Murray are out taxi squad, on waivers and sent down for cap relief without ever having to play for the Marlies. We can lose them, or they can pull a Spezza and let it be known they retire if claimed on waivers.
