I Watch every game the Sabres play and if you guys do not think Miller is a problem theres not much I can offer to the discussion. He has been horrible, and if you would like to upgrade your D I would be happy to let you have Weber and Blum for Vanek and Ennis.

OK DONE DEAL. NO BACKSIES :yo:

thank you

you giving anything else away?

You obviously don't watch very many Sabres games. It's like people stopped watching hockey after 2007 and still come here to spout their out-dated opinions.
I know it goes against the popular opinion that Lindy "chokes the skill out of players", but the Sabres are 9th this year in goals for and 5th worst in goals against. Most of that is on the defense and the lack of defensive ability of our centers, but Miller has let in some bad goals at worse times this season as well.

The Sabres have also been in the top half of the NHL in goals scored every season since the lockout except for one (last year) - and pretty consistently in the top 10 (only one other year that they weren't: 08-09)

EDIT: After last night's game they dropped to 13th in goals/game. Still much better than their 26th ranking in goals against.

I hope a blockbuster, culture-changing deal is coming. Dumping Stafford, Gerbe, Leopold or Weber - while necessary - would just be another ripple in the pond with minimal impact.

Dealing one of Vanek, Pominville or Miller would be the gutsier, bolder move to say loud and clear that the status quo and acceptance of mediocrity isn't going to continue. Given that all 3 are up for new deals in 2014, I wonder if Regier would go that far.

Of the 3, Pominville could be the one - although it would continue the Sabres' history of trading their captains.

Bruins fan, i come in peace...

You should be extra careful before blowing the team up. Boston was mediocre for years with that kind of strategy. Buffalo is a good team and while i agree that you might need a trade to shake up the team, i don't think it's wise to trade Miller. Goaltending is the toughest position to fill and it's extra tough to develop them.Remember that, If you don't have goaltending, you have very, very few.

I know a lot of fans were calling for it and I as a fan look forward to the change. I still though felt a bit sad to read the news.

Best wishes to Lindy.

He coaches the Ducks.

BTW, aren't they leading the division and second in the conference? where is Washington now?

I agree that Ruff needed to go. But don't think for one minute that this team is suddenly going to become Stanley Cup champions overnite. The players on this Sabres team might just continue tanking like before.

I'm still of the opinion that the current roster has a very large portion of the responsibility as to why they suck.

They might get the new coach bounce (especially with their upcoming schedule) and win 3 of the next 4 or something, but I don't see them doing much of anything this season....or beyond until they address the poor defensive corps.

Can i get a quick summary of the presser? had to miss it

We fired ruff, I was sad about it. It was my decision. He didnt lose the room, and his communication with them improved, it just didnt translate to the ice. Ruff is a great coach. Ron Rolston will be the interim coach.

You watch EVERY game and you think Miller has been HORRIBLE?

Ok.

I'll back this as being a good recap of what was said. It should be noted just how truly hard it seems to have been for Regier to get to this point, make the decision, and deal with it (e.g. tell Ruff). He was clearly quite sad about it.

To elaborate a bit on Rolston, he was prodded and said Rolston will be the interim for the rest of the season (meaning they aren't searching for a coach to join the team now) and that if he performs he'll have a chance to be interviewed for the permanent job (which any GM would say, frankly).

Other than what they said, Darcy said he had no clue what any of the teams issues are, and no idea if Ron Rolston can fix any of them any better than Ruff could. I guess he's hoping some coach in the off-season comes along, and tells him what's wrong with HIS hockey team.

Did anyone think it would come this quick?

Few weeks ago I thought there was very little chance he'd be fired during the season. But after that last game I honestly felt like it might be coming soon. The team put two solid losing efforts together and then went back to utter crap again. It's been a disaster.
