The Celtics and Warriors have to travel like 4,000 miles, they inexplicably stuck with the 2-2-1-1-1 over the 2-3-2 which the NBA usually doesn't do in the Finals, and inexplicablier had a two-day gap between games 1 and 2 for no reason.

The f***ing NBA Finals is going to be SEVENTEEN DAYS from beginning to end and they, like, just couldn't work around that? They had to panic plan weeks in advance?

"Oh man, the NBA is on twice a week, we need to delay the SCF until the third week of June to manage!"

I like how they already decided on the 18th and if the Rangers and Avs win out from here, the matchup is set on the 9th.

Just a nine-day avoid right in the whole ass middle of a tournament.

Clown league.
This is what happens when the league just had to get on 'The Worldwide Leader", and decide that OTA ABC would show every game of the Finals.

They are always going to defer to their bread and butter, the NBA.

I also have a bad feeling that the Finals are going to be scheduled 18/20/22/24/26/28/30 so that it doesn't extend into July over the 4th weekend.

The game turned after strome got hurt and couldn't play. We have been successful rolling 4 lines and suddenly we were doubling guys and completely out of sync.

If strome is out one of three things happens:
1 copp prob slots as panarin's center and hunt comes in on that wing.

2 Goodrow moves up w copp and panarin and Rooney is on the 4th line c

3 motte moves up with panarin and copp (yuck) and then Rooney or hunt takes his spot on the 4th line

either way out depth will be tested again
Strome gets bashed too much. We need him. I might sit Reeves if Strome is out for Rooney and Gauthier

We were never going to sweep them. The NHL doesn’t want it, the Bolts are a great team and it’s not in this franchise’s DNA.

They were terrible yesterday, but the game was still totally within reach. I think this game will be a nice wake up call for the boys and we’ll be okay.
I couldn't agree more!

Whoa, whoa!! You had me until Rooney and Gauthier.

I see them doing the opposite.

The NHL is locked into 2-2-1-1-1 and travel from Edmonton/Colorado to Tampa/New York is a beast in any combination.

The f***ing thing is gonna go just about into the second week of July.

They'll also probably have a two-day gap in the same town for literally no reason like the NBA did because they usually do. Last year there were two days off between games 3 and 4 both in Montreal for (say it with me!) LITERALLY NO REASON between two teams that didn't even have to cross a timezone.

It's never too early to absolutely ream the NHL for SCF scheduling. It should be a 13-day thing that somehow always takes a month.

The NBA has been extending the Finals for a while now.

The three days between Game 1 and 2 are two fold, the NBA doesn't like to play on Saturdays for some unknown reason, and Game 2 of the NHL ECF was Friday, so the NBA started a day earlier.

Oh, and ABC doesn't want to pre-empt Holey Moley or any of their other summer of fun bullcrap.

Hence the reason the Stanley Cup Finals ARE starting June 18. Ads are already running. The ad with the bad Dylan cover ends with Finals Begin June 18. It's because ABC has the Cup Finals.

The reason the potential Game 7 of the Rangers series is two days difference on the 14th, rather than the 13th is because Game 5 (which is now guaranteed) of the NBA Finals is on the 13th.
I pray they don't use ESPN announcers. Sean McD isn't bad but Ray Ferraro is a horror show. I really cannot stand him. He's insufferable.

Extremely frustrating game, but they were outplayed most of the game, only gave up 1 even strength goal, and still lost by just 1. Every single one of us would have signed for up 2-1 in the conference finals. Come back tomorrow and close this out in MSG.

This reminds me of what they did to us in 2019.

What's that? The Champions League semifinal ended May 8th? The Final is June 1st because go f*** yourselves.

The domestic leagues were wrapped up on May 11th? It's still June 1st because go f*** yourselves.

The final is in Spain which is basically Florida? We're gonna wait two extra weeks until it's 93 degrees. Why? Because f*** you that's why!

It'll be them. It's the same company.

It took a lot for Tampa to get their first win of the series. It took until the third game, 2 PP goals, 50 shots, and a last minute goal. The Rangers didn't play well but they still had their chances to steal the game. They've shaken off bad performances all season and all post-season long. Do it again tomorrow and fly back to NY up 3-1.

At least they didn't accuse any fans of holding fake tickets that were real, assault fans just waiting in line, tear gas them and then accuse of them of arriving late and jumping gates...

I know, it's bad.

McDonough just has no interest in hockey and it shows.

It's like Joe Buck. I'll listen to Joe Buck call football and it's no issue. When he calls baseball, it's clear that he's bored and just showing up to his job.

Oh yeah, for sure.

Madrid tried to figuratively kill us. Paris tried to actually kill us.

For now, we have the firepower and I think the biggest difference that has made is at home. 8-1 at MSG and should be 9-0. There's belief in the arena that this team is going to score and you can actually feel it. It's a real fortress now.

The Hank teams were honestly more of a road team because you were just waiting for somebody to go up 2-1 and that was the game, and those teams (2014 aside) were also kind of ugly 5v5. It was just a slog and Hank making a bunch of saves. The people couldn't get behind it. They can cheer for this team and it builds towards offense.
As someone who was able to go to every game in 2014 (sans Game 3 MTL), just about every game in 2015, the entire Pens series, and the first two against Tampa (COVID took me out of the Canes series), I can 100% attest to this. When this team is buzzing in the zone, especially on the PP, there is just a different vibe to the arena. The 2nd period of Game 1 was just bedlam. Those two shifts from the kids just put the arena on a different level. With those 2012-15 teams, you were literally praying the other team wouldn't score.

When the '12-'15 Rangers got a powerplay, you just wanted to decline it and get back to the grind of the 5v5 play because the team would lose momentum on the PP. You'd rather they be shorthanded to be honest or just send someone else to the box and play 4 on 4.

I do think some of those emotions and the level of excitement is from being away from arenas, and on top of that, the team was outside the postseason for 5 years. From '06-'17, the team missed 1 year in 09-10. Every other year they made the playoffs, so it was almost a given they'd make it. Being shutdown from COVID lead to the building even in the regular season being different, so it plays a role.

It's also in part why home ice has mattered it's most in a long time. The home team win percentage is around 62%. If Colorado wasn't so dominant on the road (7-0), it'd be even higher.

I missed most of the 3rd, I actually think we looked petty good until then but were relying on Igor too much.
Certainly not shocked that TBL won a game, anyone expecting a sweep is crazy IMO.

Hopefully we can get a road win and get back to MSG witha chance to close it out.

Some of you guys really do go overboard at times...
This is why Gallant doesnt go into the locker room immediately AFTER a game. It doesnt do any GOOD.
We should do the same here.
Instead of spewing the "Trouba sucks, And things of that nature."
out of anger or disappointment, directed at the Rangers, (btw a team those same people were handing out accolades and much LOVE just the other day to)
We lost. SO! It happens, Tampa gets paid as well. THEY barely did their job at HOME and we "could have and probably should have won. They played a good enough road game against the champs and NEARLY beat them when they were desperate as hell and we didn't play well.
What does that tell you?
Not to worry, they will feel somewhat cheated by bypassing quite the opportunity. Just regroup, and win game 4. We're good.

The problem with the game isn't that they lost. Its HOW they lost it. Tampa was so frustrated. The GI penalities were clear indicators of that (especially Perry's, that was as dumb a penalty as anyone has ever taken.)

Up by 2 more than halfway through the game, they had this series in the bag. Tampa would have pressed and done more dumb stuff and that would have opened up opportunities for the Rangers to do things and probably put this one away comfortably.

NYR gave them the momentum. To their credit, Tampa took it when it was handed to them (Not every team will do this) but its not like they snatched it away from the Rangers.

I would have rather gotten blown out and lost by 8.

f***ing Trouba.

This 100%. The game management and inconsistency of the officiating is disgusting. I love the game of hockey but I despise the NHL.
That's what gets me. Anyone talking about grand conspiracies or anything like that is out to lunch, but bad calls made out of incompetence and game management are 100% a real thing.

We go up 2-0 after scoring two straight power play goals and wouldn't you know Tampa gets a PP right after we make it 2-0 on a borderline call that would've most likely been let go if the game was tied OR we hadn't just scored two power paly goals. Then when we're on the 4min PP Chytil gets high sticked right in front of the ref, drops his stick and grabs his face and everything you couldn't miss it if you tried, but it doens't get called because the ref's aren't going to give us a 2 min 5v3 - and why not? Game management.

It's bullshit. The incessant focus on the refs to manage the game and call it fair instead of just having a standard and calling the penalties in the game based on that standard we get wildly shifting standards of what is and isn't a penalty throughout the game based on who's winning, who has more power plays, which coach is in the ref's ear, etc...

Game 2, I was on my way to Times Square to watch the game on one of the giant ad screens (which was f***ing cool!) but I wanted to stop a bakery that I couldn't find so I was late. I have the game on the radio and we go down 1-0.

Alright, that sucks. I was mad at Reaves. I got over it.

Had that been 2012-2015, I honest to God would have just gotten back on the train with my giant cookie and went home if those teams went down 1-0.

I didn’t think it was that bad of a game. The 3rd period was legitimately the worst period we’ve played all playoffs though, somehow we outdid game 1 carolina’s 3rd. But I thought we were the better team for 2/3 of essentially a must win game for Tampa on their home ice. We can’t f*** around with this PP, they’re too dangerous.

Yeah I thought we looked in control for most of it and I agree with @Uninstaaled that they really looked like they were losing it mentally before we changed the momentum for them.

We'll be back. There's a real danger about this Rangers team. They get an early goal and it's like "oh here they go again." Meanwhile, early goals against do nothing to us.

I still think Tampa's the better hockey team but our mentality has been outstanding

Exactly. It's bullshit and happens every f***ing game. It's infuriating.

I won't be any more negative. Trouba and Vatrano suck. They cost us a ton of momentum. Whatever

I can't hate this gaggle of cockroaches. This is only the second time in my conscious fandom that they're punching above their weight class. The first being Montreal in 2017 and I f***ING HATED that team.

They beat a team that's better in Pittsburgh, a team that's much better at least system wise in Carolina, and they're up 2-1 on the back to back champs.

Just f***ing win baby. We had this until Trouba's one braincell went on PTO. I'm sure he'll make up for it.

Pitt is not better.
