I don't know if Sergachev+Stamkos for Guentzel+McDonagh makes Tampa's cup window any bigger or longer.

McDonagh will age out sooner than later, then what will you do on defense? Hedman is still fantastic but getting older aswell, atleast with Sergachev you have a top pair D for longer run alongside players like Point/Kucherov/Cirelli.

Not to mention Stamkos sort of feels like the heart of the team. Maybe they get both Stamkos/Guentzel done but.. if not it will be interesting to see where they go from here.

They can afford both Guentzel and Stamkos?
If Jake wants 8M max and Stamkos' rumoured ask of 5M is legit, then yes, that would take them to 13M.

That's a big if on Stammer though. I'm pretty damn sure Detroit and other teams would offer him significantly more than that on the open market.

It would actually be: Sergachev + Stamkos for Guentzel + McDonagh + JJMoser + Geekie + some free cap space to get another player.
Which, to me, seems like a damn good deal to extend the window.

pens walked from the term and cost on a player they knew very well. It simply didn't fit the retool of getting younger and adding prospects to a farm system in need of prospects. Tampa believes they can compete for a cup and that is a stance they have to take.

Brisebois cites favourable tax advantages as a reason players would sign in Tampa.

Surely @DistantThunderRep can teach him that’s not why players take less it’s really about weather and golf right?

Again no has stated otherwise. But you're ridiculously stupid stubbornness of committing to being the Weeping Wonder, refuses to let your tax boogeyman riddled brain to accept that while it's there, it doesn't mean it's a guarantee or such a huge advantage that everyone runs and takes discounts in those places.

But hey keep being the Weeping Wonder, officially now the Taxes Court Jester of HF.

Carolina better act fast in signing Guentzel or trading him to the Western conference or they will likely have to play Tampa with Guentzel for the next 7 years.

Put that in their algorithm.

The odds of Carolina playing Tampa more than 3 times in a season are pretty low. The playoff series between the two was only a function of Covid.

Guentzel signing with the Rangers is the one that would hurt.

No. You denied it was there. You denied competitive balance was a primary openly stated goal of the cap. You tried to make up garbage about RCAs in hockey vs basketball and that accountants can make up the difference. Then you brought in some fake tax guy. Only to have him admit the calculator was right

We know exactly what the tax difference is. How it provide an unfair advantage to the teams that cried to balance

What I find amazing is that it seems like every day you make an incorrect point. You are smacked in the face with clear evidence against it

-it’s about the weather and golf. Brisebois says it’s about taxes
-there is no 14% industry standard. Igor asked for 14%
-Tavares could use RCAs and cheat the government. Tavares is being sued
-players don’t need agents. They just use the calculator….. doughty does it without and agent.

It’s remarkable

Damn 3rd rd pick is steep for signing rights. All indications were that he was trying to go to Tampa anyways
