Anyone else read this on Rosen's blog?

>>The arena switched to LED lighting in-house in an energy conscious move. Lakers games, which used different color temperature lights than Kings games, were known for producing a lightened playing surface surrounded by shrouded seating areas.

With the new lights, the playing surface for Kings games will be illuminated brightly, surrounded by a more darkened seating area. Those who watch on television may notice a slight difference, though fans who attend games regularly likely won’t notice any significant change.<<

I REALLY hope we don't adopt the look/vibe of the United Center or the pre-renovated MSG.....dark and gloomy, I hate that.

But from the appearance of the highlights I've seen from last night, that's exactly how it will be. It's like the difference between Lakers and Kings games from last year......the Lakers games, the crowd was like blacked out. Don't like it.....

Was at the game and it took some getting used to. The lights are just brighter/whiter hue than the old lights, so the rink looks quite brighter while the stands are quite darker.

I quite enjoyed it. Apparently the photographers enjoyed it too, as they didn't have to use strobes for their photos.

Also not mentioned in the upgrades was the 100 seats are now all leather/faux leather.

I was there last night and really noticed the brighter ice surface right away. I can't say I noticed the stands being darker...

The crowd lighting used to be very dark at the Forum if I recall correctly. I like the light being focused on the playing area (although I have not seen it in person yet). I thought the reasoning was crowd/fire safety at Staples for the lighting in the seating area.

I'm gonna guess it's still meets the requirements, otherwise it wouldn't be allowed.

Lights were dim at the GWF because they didn't replace burned out bulbs. :naughty:
As long as I can see the game there or on my TV, I am good with the lights. Don't care if I miss that guy who stands up and looks at the camera every time the puck goes in the corner

I like it, the focus should be on the ice, not on some yahoo looking for attention

I'm surprised that it took this long. Kings games have the same sound effects as Laker games (the organ, the power play/three pointer theme).

The bad thing is that rally towels will not be visible on TV anymore. The lighting would also hide empty seats if the Kings are getting blown the **** out. They could've used this lighting during the rebuilding years.

The Kings getting blown out is pretty rare these days.

i like it. i've been waiting and hoping they would make this change. it highlights the on ice product and not the d-bags looking to noticed in the crowd
