BTW, I don't get why people are flipping out about the "Igor's better" chants. It's not like Rangers fans invented this. I know at least as early as Belfour-Roy WCF series in 99 and 00, the fans were chanting "Eddie's better". I think that came later in the round, but still it's not a chant that we invented. The goalie battle was THE storyline and we put up 6 goals.

I’ll have more thoughts tomorrow because that game was awesome, but I’m very happy that Frankie Vatrano shut me up tonight. Incredible game from him

This should be the last of them till later on today. MSG interviews. The only one that is different from the others that were posted is the Dave Maloney interview with Frank Vatrano.
Goodnight all.

A game like this is why Vatrano was such a smart pickup. I'm still not crazy about him on line 1 but at the very least he has wheels and is active on the forecheck and then most importantly his shot is so good he has the ability to even beat even the best goalie in the league from distance. Having a guy who can score a goal out of nowhere because his shot is so good is a great guy to have and his goal tonight was a massive reminder as to why. It's why Vatrano is a legit solid NHL forward and Julien Gauthier, who by all physical traits should be a better player is instead a never was.

Was the Chytil goal the greatest offensive shift ever on MSG ice
That shift has to be most dominant sustained offensive shift in the playoffs the Rangers have had in the cap era. If it's not the best, it's right up there.

It looks like they leveled up after the Hurricanes series. To deal with their speed and puck pressure they had to learn how to play faster, how to make quicker decisions and hustle to loose pucks and shooting lanes.....
This is what most people including a big chunk of our fan base didn't get going into this. In that we just played a great team in the Canes. And in order to beat them, we had to improve by playing faster and thinking quicker. And with us doing well against Tampa during the regular season, how are they suppose to handle us now, when we are a much stronger, further improved team. We last met them before the TDL. Tampa is just not fast enough handle our speed and aggressive pressure. We didn't have many quality chances vs the Canes. But with more time and space to make plays, they will come in bunches vs the Bolts.

BTW, did you guys know that the Tampa Bay Lightning were the first team in NHL history to sweep a team and have another series in that round go 7.

What a win, what a result. I've never in my life seen a Rangers team do this. I've seen high scoring games. They dumped goals against Montreal in 2014 and Game 6 in Tampa in 2015.

This was different. It felt different.

It's The Kids. It's Zibanejad, Kreider, Fox, and Panarin. It's the new guys in Copp and Vatrano. I love Tyler Motte. Goodrow is the exact player they needed. Braun has stabilized a 3rd pair.

It's K'Andre Miller showing a #1D is in there. It just might not show every night, but it's in there and can happen at any time. It's Lindgren willing himself into being the anchor of a defense.

And of course it's Igor. We're witnessing a technician of his craft. On top of that, he's got the mindset that nobody believes in him and the effort of Hank. He wants it just as bad as we do.

Go out and do this on Friday and I'm sold this team is the team of destiny. It's the Anti-Ranger thing to do, go up 2-0 in a series. Prove everyone wrong again.

I missed the discussion during the game, but I really hated Shesty’s theatrics.

That’s just asking for trouble. We’re up massively, while pull that stunt? Especially after such a good game.
It's gamesmanship. He legitimately got contacted and once he goes down it kills the play. Even if the puck goes in they won't count it.

To me, this run is starting to feel like the Bengals Super Bowl run this year. Underdog pretty much every step of the way, consistently proving they were for real, and just kept getting stronger. Just hope that the ending is different and they can actually do this

P.S. I’ve been a Bengals fan for 40+ years.
Let's hope we have a better ending than the Bengals got.
