kid just needs to go out there and play solid 5v5 hockey. nothing more.

play steady controlled defense with good gaps and careful pinches. dont get caught in no mans land.

let ADA and shatty and skjei push the pill. playing with pionk will be interesting.

this team needs a steady, defensively reliable guy who can pay defense first. his +/- numbers in hartford were atrocious so he needs to be better.

the whole hartford thing is bad.

if im shestyorkin or kravtsov, i want exactly ZERO part of that place. or less than zero.

At thus point, how many consecutive years does Hartford need to be a black hole before NYR revamps the management there?

Speaking of Rykov not able to watch him today but if you follow Nunn on Twitter the kid is having a day

I wonder with all the Left Defensemen we have is there a way to teach them to play the right side? Has this Left on left and Right on right always been?

Better than expected

A defenders production is highly impacted by four things: 1. Skill, 2. The amount of risk the defender takes, 3. Environment and 4. Usage.

A perfect example of this is among many others the shift in production for Anton Stralman when he went from playing on a match-up pair under Torts to a more offensive role in Tampa. He went from scoring 1 goal and 13 pts in 82 games for us to scoring 9 goals and 39 pts from Tampa.

I wouldn’t read much into Hajak’s stats from the AHL. He has focused on playing a solid 2-way game, and not taken any risks offensively. If put with a vet stay at home D in a top offensive role for an AHL team he might as well have 40 pts.

Brendan Smith's transition from buy out candidate to top line winger has given me hope that our abundance of LHD prospects will actually be able to solve our winger problem moving forward

Chara - Nieves - Smith
Staal - Zibanejad - Skjei
Rykov - Chytil - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Andersson - Howden

Hajek - DeAngelo
Miller - Lundkvist
Reunanen - Keane

Looked pretty good to me, but I only saw half the game. I suspected he'd be better out of Hartford, the toxic environment that was exacerbating his confidence issues.

Watched him every shift. His skating is very good and he made some good defensive plays but had a few mistakes rookie style. Definitely has a way to go in developing.

Interesting. Probably saw that Brooks article from a few days back and wanted to tell him to **** off.
Me too. He loses tons of credibility with that article. Okay, a few pounds. You can't lose what you don't have,

If you DON'T KNOW what you are talking about, then don't. Write a fluff piece instead, don't bad mouth a kid, and make fools of the many that really aren't "in the know", like me.
I happen to believe much of what is written, and feel ashamed to admit that. I don't care for being fooled much. *warning*.

I don’t know a thing about Hartford, but if this is the state of affairs, that needs to be fixed immediately.

Especially for a rebuilding organization.
Times 2. If this truly the case, he and Lingreen need to be up with the big club as soon as possible.

For most D, its not about 'knowing' the position, its about ease. As in, if i am right handed, then standing on the point, my stick blade is against the boards if i am on the right point. I play D, and i play right, and its a lot easier to keep pucks in the zone on my forehand than on my backhand, but positionally, i can play either side.

This is a power tank move, recalling your AHL teams worst regular D-man, Hajek has been legit awful this season. I base this off of watching ~20 games in combination with looking Into the numbers, both the public and some not public numbers.

Beautiful hot take. Bet it makes you rethink watching pack games, can’t really gauge anything from them bc the hectic ness of the league. Happened to me at the beginning of the season
