Aggressive statement. Certainly possible but I'm curious what makes you so confident.

That's me! Zib performing up to his contract playing a position this organization is lacking in the system will be important if Drury wants a retool.

The bigger question is can he keep this consistency the rest of this season. If not, then yes he has to go.

Stamkos made this later career switch and the Lightning won 2 Cups. It's a natural progression for a right shot center who has lost a step. Mika looks much quicker and stronger on the wing.

Let’s get a f*cking haul in here boys. From now until the end of summer I wanna see this team nice and sexily retooled. It can be done.

Really feel like we can continue to score a lot of picks this year and next on top of whichever great young dudes we can potentially nab.

+ Gabe on this team.

Who else new is slated to get a showing for us in the fall?

The Rangers arent going to sell low on him i dont think. He's got an RFA year or two left. He can bluster about not playing but it doesnt appear to have hurt his development. He's got an opportunity, time to run with it. Rangers needed the depth on D.
Problem is he got an opportunity last season also and performed well and look where it got him. I don't doubt the same thing would happen this time around....plays great and then gets benched once Fox comes back

I'm all for clearing out the bad apples and UFA's but I'd still be a bit worried here.

You'd have to really nail the trades of Kreider+Bread and get back pieces that can help you pretty much immediately.

I'd be so down if we were a year in the future because that UFA class potentially has legitimate star power. I like Rantanen and don't care that he's a winger, but he's not worth the 13-14 million he will get even considering the rising cap.

I like Chychrun, he's a good playoff away from probably getting a mid 9's to maybe even 10.

Bennett is going to be someone I'd bet my nuts on being a Ranger target if he's not re-signed by Florida. He's a really unique player (bangers aren't typically guys who thrive with controlled entries yet he does) but players of his ilk almost never age gracefully and he's good to miss time every season.

This UFA class reminds me a ton of 2016. So many mistakes were made that day.

The magical thing about our scenario… It can be considered ‘selling’…. But we’re really improving by ‘selling’

We’re a better team for it and we’re restocking the cupboard. It’s a win-win. That restocking should help us land a much needed defenseman.

near zero chance kreider is moved with his injury.

It’s just a wonder whether they will acquire a D, but the market is thin.

I read some rumblings on Connor Murphy if the price is right.
Put him on the 4th line and special teams

I wouldn’t trade him for picks. It’d need to be for a NHL ready player like Bichsel. Or hosing a team like Columbus for a top prospect

I think Smith fills a hole on Columbus' 3rd/4th line right side. What would you think about as a return?

thx
Might be tough helping a team you are trying to catch. If Drury was just looking at it as a hockey trade, how about a guy like Dmitri Voronkov or Jordan Harris. Both are 24 yo and could be depth players on cheap contracts.

Agree with a lot here. I think Drury could be catching some mojo now, doing the right things at the moment.

Very concerned about rantanen. 100% don’t want him and I’m glad we were forced to pass on Guentzel too tbh, not the right time for that guy and this team.

However, Sam MF Benny. Get me that guy. Poor man’s Brady T IMO. In a good way. If he and Miller can take the vet reigns that would be a really great scenario for this team. Though I am still worried about when the cliff dropping will begin on those two. BUT IF .. some of our young wings explode points wise it could definitely offset their decline into steady beastly third liners making too much money.

No Lindgren anymore. At least if we’re going to play 2 undersized guys, they are puck movers. I’m not convinced there isn’t a place long term on this team for Fox and Jones

Smith is obviously gone but after that I can only see Kreider

Keep Panarin but maaaaybr something crazy happens although Kreider is a big move

2nd at min but they are likely trying to recoup a later pick too in order to break even on the trade to get him

I’m guessing NYR deals with a team they are not battling with for a playoff spot but I could be wrong

smitty goes, and one of bread/kreids. prob kreids.

Buffalo is my favorite team to watch when the Rangers aren't playing and the other games are not very appealing.

The Sabres have so many quality young players.

kreider for helenius? or novikov + 2nd?

Kreider at 3:01 pm on Friday after he remains in NY

The reality is that they're both probably going to get moved sooner rather than later.

Its not a one or the other situation.
I dont think Mika is getting moved specially now that it seems him and Miller are finding their groove together. They legit look like they enjoy playing together. Always talking and being engaged on the bench and on the ice.

A 70-80 point player who can play C and RW, elite PKing and proven playoff performer for 8.5m now that the cap is going up. Yeah, he is not going anywhere IMHO.

oh i hope you're right, if they give him enough of a chance and commit to him, he and Fox could be like a poor man's Leetch/Zubov combo. also not sure why a schneider/jones pair couldn't flourish if given the time. Just find that top LD to play with Fox and I think those would be pretty good defensive pairs

There's certainly less impetus to have to get rid of him if he's a serviceable player, and it helps that we got Miller and kind of got off of being "stuck" with Zibanejad as the 1C for better or worse.

I still think some things need to change and that this team has an awkward timeline, but I'm more optimistic than I was a couple of weeks ago.
