Game against Dallas did not have my full attention as the US women's soccer team was playing beating Brazil, but, looking at some box score stuff now ... Hajek led the team in EV & 5v5 minutes @ ~15:30 (obviously did not play any special teams tonight,) which is nothing to sneeze at ... 6:25 against Seguin, and 5:30 Benn.

Probably will have to watch replays of MTL and @DAL, since everyone seems to be raving about him.

He did play a shift on the PK during a Skjei penalty, but that was the only time I noticed him out there on PK.

Why does he seem better in the NHL than A
he also looked really good in the preseason? I think it was preseason anyway lol
He plays better in a more structured environment because he generally makes the simple play and team mates are generally where they’re supposed to be. The AHL (and Hartford especially) isn’t very structured because the players are either really young or just not very good, way more turnovers, giveaways, broken plays, etc to deal with. I can’t remember if it was Carter Hart or the kid who took the starting job in St Louis was asked why they seemed to be doing better in the NHL than the AHL earlier this year and they essentially said the same thing

He played somewhere around a minute on the 5 on 3 in the third

Mark my words Lib Hajek will look night and day better at the NHL level vs the AHL level.

We’ve got a true log jam at left D because Iggy Rykov is the real deal he’s closer to Mcdonagh than Hajek imo and he’s coming shortly.

Just wanted to leave this here from the day he was recalled. NBD

I don’t see much of a future for Lindgren here. Not that he’s bad we just have better players in front of him and coming behind him

Going back to McD, very few of our NHL defenseman have wowed at the AHL level. Typically, as younger players, they play a more conservative, simple game.

Generally, the guys who have put up eye-catching numbers, are the guys who typically play a style that is likely to keep them in the AHL.

:::waves to John Gilmour, Matthew Bodie, and Danny Syvret:::

I think Lindgren has a long term home on this team.

The other notable LHD in the org (Skjei, Miller, Rykov, Hajek, etc.) all project as top 4 guys. You keep the best 2 and use the others as trade chips - those guys will have more value than Lindgren will.

Plus all you really want out of your bottom pair is to soak up 18ish minutes a night and some special teams time (either on the PK or PP), Lindgren is more than capable of doing that.

What's everyone's fascination with Lindgren. From what I saw in preseason he doesnt have nhl footspeed.
His speed is just fine.

What I liked the most of what I saw of him (and I got a chance to see him live) is that unlike other defenseman, Lindgren actively works at keeping the opposition away from the front of the net as opposed to reacting to them once they arrive. He makes it a point not to give them a free path to the front of the net.

He strikes me as a player who will not get the publicity as he is not flashy, but can bring a steadying influence to the entire defense.

I never got the sense that Gilmour is an NHL defenseman. Lindgreen did not look out of place when he was here.

Gilmour is one of those guys who looks like he could stick somewhere for a few seasons, cause the fanbases of previous teams wonder why he isn't playing for them, before fading back into an afterthought and going to Europe.

Well, we have guys that project to be better that would be playing in front of him. His skill set is different than anyone else in the system. That doesn't guarantee him a spot or anything, but the fact is guys like Miller, Rykov, a Reunanen or someone, Sjalin, etc., they still have to either come to North America and show they can play or turn pro and show they can play. Bereglazov came here and was supposed to be a solid bet for an NHL career and it didn't work out. I suspect Rykov and Miller at least will be fine, but you never know.

There's also the matter of Gorton saying at some point they'd move things around to improve the team. Some guys that we're high on may not be around to actually play here. I wouldn't expect him to trade Miller or anything like that, but eventually we'll have to deal with the glut of defensemen. So, again, you could be right, but I'm not really sure what the defense will look like in two years.

You’re second paragraph is something I’ve said all along.. we don’t know who is going to comprise the end result. Anyone from Buchnevich to Skjei to Pionk to Andersson could end up being moved in order to add pieces management feels fit in better when the roster is fully constructed. And, it’s no south or mistake. At the end of the day, it’s about having assets.
