hartford is the place you go where your game not only doesnt develop but its regresses.

sending any of our prized prospects there is counter productive.

kravtsov and shestyorkin want no part of that place.

with good reason.

at some point this organization will need to address that situation.

And yet I bet both are more than willing to spend some time there.

The team may be shit, but players CAN work on their games effectively there.

What are the signs in Hartford of poor development?

During the last five years this board has compared so many defensemen to Anton Stralman, I guess it was only a matter of time until one actually fit the comparison.
It gets tough. Over the years, as I added a wife and kids and a house and more work responsibility, I've had less time to watch hockey. I still watch the Rangers, I still watch Hartford, and I still watch as much of our prospects as I can. But gone are the days where I lived in San Diego and got home from work and watched parts of every game on the NHL package. Since I can't watch all the teams like I used to, my ability to compare players to non-Rangers has greatly diminished! And it really does suck, because I try to come up with comps for current prospects and they're all based on Rangers from the past decade. I got nothing else.

Sounds very familiar. That said, it's sort of nice to not treat every Ranger game like life and death...and analyze every shift of a prospect like it's the Zapruder film

Kinda reminds of McD with regards to how smoothly he’s stepped into the league. Certainly looking like his alledged struggles in the A may not have been indicative of his talent level.

I’d say somewhere between good and very good. Looks like he can at least be a solid yet unspectacular defenseman for 10+ years

And that would be incredibly welcome.

There’s this temptation to elevate kids when they first come up. But sometimes it’s nice to appreciate them for what they are, or likely to be.

Game against Dallas did not have my full attention as the US women's soccer team was playing beating Brazil, but, looking at some box score stuff now ... Hajek led the team in EV & 5v5 minutes @ ~15:30 (obviously did not play any special teams tonight,) which is nothing to sneeze at ... 6:25 against Seguin, and 5:30 Benn.

Probably will have to watch replays of MTL and @DAL, since everyone seems to be raving about him.

Didn't want to be there?
It's odd that he wouldn't be playing his best in Hartford to get called up, so I'm generally doubtful of the idea that struggling players simply aren't trying but if it's true with any of our prospects it's him. He looks NHL ready, and I remember from interviews last summer he seemed sure he was making the team

Yup. Your last sentence is my line of thinking too.

It's obvious guys like Howden and Chytil have faded which was pretty much to be expected in their first full arduous season. It's nice to see Hajek shining in a defensive capacity (albeit a small sample size) late in the season.

I'd like to see Lindgren come up.
