This is the right move for Lias, if not for Mika injury he would’ve been down there sooner. But where he’s at with his development is no doubt partially on the the staff, really bad choices rushing him to the ahl in his d1 season. Had no business being in the nhl to end that season. Played way too many games last year and this year with the big club. How about a young player consistently plays well before you bring him up? then at least give him a chance with decent players even for some shifts, or if you already have him pegged in a 4c role, how about surround him with 4th line capable players? Haley is not an nhl player, Smith is not an nhl caliber forward.

If he is a nothing player and is not that good, then somebody needs to get fired for drafting him 7th overall.
Do you have any idea how fast the NHL would burn through GMs if it worked like this? We'd have Jim Ramsay making selectons at the 2022 draft. There are 10 picks from the entire 2017 draft that have played more than 30 NHL games, Lias and Chytil are two of them.

Then we're more or less out of options.

By that can happen. Some prospects bust.
Well, the option remaining would be the swapping change of scenery candidates, but yes, that’s less than ideal.

The kid still has time, but he needs to get it together sometime before summer of 2021, or else he’ll likely be playing elsewhere.

A few things to bring up here:

1. It's clear the organization is done with Lettieri and Nieves if neither of them got a crack.

2. Hoping they let Gettinger do his thing which is get the puck in deep and cycle. I'm also curious if he increased his explosiveness or general speed at all.

3. Once again look prospects used to take 3-4 year tops from draft year to make the big club. I'm not using this as an excuse for Lias just he's only in year 3. Rasmussen and Mittlestad aren't exactly setting the world on fire.

4. We'll find out in the coming weeks if the org is in fact done with Lias. Not every pick is going to hit, but to keep things in perspective, Callahan made his NHL debut around this time when he was Lias's age.

His international play was very good and many believed it as an indicator, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
It would seem that he hasn't been able to make the transition as easily as others.

That scout actually retired. It was the former Islander player forgot his name @Amazing Kreiderman I'm phoning a friend.
Yes Anders Kallur apparently really wanted him and that’s why they let him announce the pick

There’s a deleted tweet Friedman had at the draft that Clark said they were convinced to take him because of Lias’ 2nd half and playoff stats in his draft year

What exactly have you seen from Chytil that suggests he isn't a bust? He was called up and responded very well for the first few games and has begun to disappear again. He has a long ways to go still.

I knew you were going to get blasted for this, but I know what you are saying in that his career is very young and it's way too early to call him a success. You aren't wrong in that we can't label him anything yet. I personally see a kid that oozes all kinds of talent and drive though, so I'm pretty confident the Rangers hit pay dirt with him.

If Zibanejad doesn't get hurt, this is something that likely would have happened 3 weeks ago.

Then they should've just called up Beleskey and sent Lias down. This is overdue, and I think Howden should be going with him. The more AHL big minutes they can get, the better. Let Knoblauch do his thing.

Lets hope you’re right on Chytil, as it would certainly soften the blow *if* Lias doesn’t pan out.

I really want to see how Lias handles this situation, though, and I am pulling for him to come out on top. Not ready to write him off just yet, but I think this is the crossroad for him. Will he bust or will he respond similarly to Fil.

7th Overall pick can't handle the NHL 2 1/2 years after being drafted.

It's an issue. Hold the "too young" bull****.

He is a massive disappointment.

Sorry, but I can't agree. Quinn has barely given him a chance.

Not sure what it is, but Quinn clearly has something against Lias, especially when Howden has looked like garbage and keeps getting chance after chance

It seems to me it is probably more about Quinn loving Howden than having something against Andersson. The usage (over usage?) of Howden dates back through last year.

Makes sense to me. Andersson needs to play--needs to at least become a 3rd liner. Gettinger projects as a 4th liner and that's where he'll be slotted. If Tim can do a good job at penalty killing and knock in a goal once in a while he could stick around.
