He’s got an NHL level shot and NHL level scoring instincts.

Points will depends on his role (TOI, linemates, PP unit) but there’s nothing about his actual game that makes me think he won’t succeed.

I think it's too early to judge, honestly.

i agree to an extent.

when drafted, he was supposed to be the closest NHL ready player or one of them.

hes only 20 and finding his way.

i do not see the offensive upside however and on draft day, there were others who shared that same feeling.

i still question his foot speed- not his overall skating but lack of his first few steps. he lacks high end speed and would not be considered a great skater and that doesnt mean he cant skate. he can.

im still waiting to see something that will change my mind. there's alot of time left but for now ill stick wit my 3C projection. nothing wrong with a 55 point 3C who plays 200 ft game and is on the ice in crunch time taking face-offs and playing that mark messier role.

I wish this myth would just die. Pierre McGuire said this. Not someone in our organization

actually he compared lias with quickie. that was weak.

others agreed he was very mature and composed and driven. traits younger players usually lack at 17 or 18. maturity and composure seemed to indicate he was more ready. true or not, that was the word prior to the draft.

i was very high on lias on draft day and still am. lowering my projections isnt saying he will fail.

i just see lower potential points from him. he needed to light up the A for me to believe more and he just hasn't done enough

Yeah, this was only based on them playing for HV71 in their draft year. Such a lazy comparison but I am not surprised by it.

While Lias was very mature for his age, and the most mature player in the draft, that doesn't mean he's the closest to being a finished product. People often confuse the two.

again we are agreeing here

his father was a pro. he seemed very focused and mature inches draft season. his production was solid and he seemed like a kid destined to be a pro.

hes still that guy to me but with slightly lower expectations as far as scoring goes.

with PP1 time, prime minutes and talented line mates, like any good player, he will produce.

ROR-lite is probably a reasonable expectation with a small chance he grows into something better.

Quinn should let him the play the wing the rest of the season. I think that would be the best way to accelerate his development. He was a -24 in Hartford. Maybe playing center as a pro is too much defensive responsibility for him at this point. If he was lighting the lamp more it would be better, but not by much.

Buch Chytil and Lias looked good today and Chytil and Lias also looked good the other day. They should keep Lias at center for now

Give me a 40-50 point player who plays well in all 3 zones and steps up big time for the bigger games, and ill personally be thrilled with that.

IDK, Jordan might not be a bad ceiling for Andersson to hit. Good 2 way center - maybe Andersson has little more agitator to his game (Kessler) and a higher leadership ceiling but I don't think this is a terrible comparison/future.

When you look at ceiling, sure. I thought the question was more about a stylistic comparison

He has a solid head on his shoulders, not worried about him one bit — he is a smart player. Looking forward to him having ice time and capable line mates on a more frequent basis.

I just wish he would work on his skating more. It’s not even that his speed is lacking because it’s actually decent. It’s his edge work and agility that needs some work. I see a really solid hockey player in there, but a little more dynamic skating to help him find a little more room out there and he could really be a hell of a player.
