The kid needs to play more Than 8 minutes a night,,,,very simple.

You mean he needs to earn more than 8 minutes a night right? The same approach has helped Chytil become more comfortable on the ice and has gotten him used to the pace and contact of the nhl. I think everyone has to let this play out and relax, theres nothing wrong with being patient with young players and Lias will become a good player but hes not ready for a bigger role yet.

Not sure its that easy to show something with a big 6 minutes of ice time like yesterday,,,,;)
Accountability applies to kids and vets. Lias hasn't played nearly well enough to deserve more time with the big club...honestly he's been noticeably our worst player...he touches the puck and the play dies on his stick...like every...single...time.

People constantly whine about his linemates, but right now his linemates are the one who have the grievance here.

He needs big minutes in Hartford.

He needs to play, period.

If he hasn’t done enough to warrant those minutes up here then he needs to playing in the AHL.

Playing 8 minutes a night as a 20 year old is asinine.

I don’t care about minutes or what line he’s on. He needs to improve his skating. That’s my main concern. Jeez is he slow out there.

I've been complimentary of him all year. I read the comments about him being our worst player, his stick is where pucks go to die, he's invisible, skates in cement, etc., and it makes me feel pretty certain I'm watching a different player than everyone else. I think he's been pretty good in his limited role with limited teammates. Apparently I'm in the minority.

I'm biased because I liked the pick at the time and still do, but I think he's looked pretty good, in particular the last 2 games. His skating certainly needs more work and hopefully it is something they work on in the off-season, but his positioning is pretty good, he fights for the puck well in the corners and his shot is off his stick pretty quickly.
Still lots to learn and lots of improvement to make, but he certainly looks like an NHLer, and I still think that with a few more minutes and better line mates (there's nothing wrong with our 4th liners right now, I just think Lias would benefit from more creative guys), you'd see a better player right now.

I wonder if we can turn him into like a Benoit Hogue.

That might sound underwhelming, but Hogue was a decent NHL player for 15 years. Had 30-goal and 70-point seasons.

Gritty, good leader, played in all situations, any position, won a Stanley Cup.

Houge never really did anything well, but he wasn't bad at anything.

I think that's the vision for Andersson.

Thought he had a strong game tonight. That play he made on the goal is what you hope to see from him. The drive to get the puck and the skill to create or finish a play.

I'm quiet because im out of town and haven't watched the last 2 games...I'll start playing catch-up on Thursday...I hope u guys are right and he's turning it around.

Is LA hot s@$t again?
FWIW I didn't come in here just because he made a nice play on his assist and I don't think he's hot shit. What I've said all season is he's fine, he's playing a fourth line role but doing well in it, making things happen and being involved. I think he could have double his points with a bit better luck--he has set up a few really nice chances that haven't been converted and has missed on at least a handful himself, goals that I know he can convert because I've seen him do it consistently at multiple levels.

And he could mix it up too. His game worn jerseys are a thing of beauty.

He’s absolutely looked like an NHL player to me.

What worries me is that he will probably have to become a 60-70 point player to justify his draft position on here. I think with his skill set he is going to be a clutch player, which will hopefully counter some of the criticism, even if his peak is closer to 50 points.

Like I said when we drafted him - if he ends up being a 2nd line center with 40-50 points for the Rangers over a 10+ year career then he's an absolute home run at 7OA. "Fans" shouldn't be hating on him at this point, they should be hoping he develops as his career moves along. There should be seriously tempered expectations from a guy playing 6-8 minutes a night with Nieves and Strome.

I think that 4th line is pretty good by 4th line standards, but expecting him to light up the scoreboard is unrealistic.

I don't think its "hating" on Lias. If he goes on to the career that you suggest, assuming those point totals are with decent linemates, it is far from a home run for a 7th pick. 40-50 point players aren't that hard to come by in the NHL. A good portion of the fan base wants to ship out a 40-50 point shutdown C on a 70 point pace this year. The return would more than likely be a mid 1st round pick and a prospect. Given the uncertainty of the draft, why do it?
This team isn't contending for at least a couple of years, at which point they can shed the salary for Hank, Staal and Shatty. Keeping young, talented players is a the smart move.
