Beleskey can be an elite fourth liner, but he can also be a f***ing plug as he was during the end of his Boston tenure. They didn't get rid of him just because he was overpaid, but because he wasn't even particularly effective when they just asked him to play fourth line minutes. He just had a bad stretch. It's nice he has rebounded and found his game, but we'll have to see if it lasts.

Drafting Lias allowed us to take riskier picks like Chytil, Kravtsov and miller
Maybe Chytil. I don't think LA had anything to do with Kravtsov and Miller.

Also, I would guess that the organization would tell you that they didn't consider either Kravtsov or Miller to be risky. I mean, they had to be pretty f***ing sold on Miller to make the trade they did to get him. And Kravtsov, going ahead of Dobson, Bouchard, Wahlstrom, Farabee, etc? I think the team just viewed him as an absolute stud. Even Chytil...I think the only reason we really consider these guys "risky" is because they maybe weren't the players we were expecting. And since they weren't the consensus picks, they were "risks." I'm thinking maybe they weren't risks, and we just did an excellent job scouting.

I also think Lias is the only getting a safe label because people think his upside is limited where the others upside is viewed as limitless

Lias hasnt really done much this season so far. He has kinda just been there. No production. Granted he isnt playing with top notch players, he hasnt stood out much. I still think he looks a step behind the play as I had said 2-3 weeks ago. For a #7 overall pick you just hope to see more if he is going to be in the NHL right now. And before anyone jumps down my throat, I still believe in Lias. Still think in the long run he will be a good hockey player for this organization. But maybe he needs to be in Hartford right now getting #1 Center minutes.

I agree with sending him back down. Is he really so good at doing all the other things right now that he needs to be here? At least Chytil has shown flashes

He needs a whole season in the AHL imo

He’s going to get too 3 C minutes once Hayes is dealt but till then should be sent down to AHL

Remember, it's 40 games on active roster towards an accrued season, not just 40 games played.

I get that GMs don't care about the 10-game limit for the ELC slide, but the with the 40-game mark for accrued seasons including games he's just scratched for...it's all the more important that if Lias is going to be up here for 40 games this season, he actually play 40+

Andersson is one of Quinn's few mistakes. He's handled the kid poorly. However, I also blame Gorton. He littered the roster with too many vets. Especially on defense for a team that should be rebuilding.

If that's part of the criteria, why is Staal still playing?

Because Staal is consistent. He's just consistent at a very low level.

When I saw Lias was going to be scratched I knew there would be crazy overreactions in here. It's really not a big deal if he sits for a game or two and watches from the press box. A player can learn a lot by doing that. It will become a major concern if he is scratched for a long period of time or in some sort of rotation basis.

Today, it's nothing to be worried about and I trust the Rangers brass understands this. Remember, Pionk faced a similar situation early on and look at him now.

On another, yet related note, why in God's name has Howden become untouchable with Quinn. I firmly believe Howden should be sitting over Lias and Lias should be getting his minutes at 3C. He hasn't been effective for quite some time now and Lias, in my opinion, has been much better over the past few games.

I always laugh when people call Lias a reach but never mention Chytil being a reach as well. People only use the term when a player in their eyes doesn't pan out (for which it is still way too early to judge in this case anyway). Chytil was ranked in the 2nd and 3rd round all over the mock drafts (And I say again that mock drafts and rankings are subjective and should never be used to judge draft outside of the top-5). Chytil was an even higher reach than Lias based on the same parameters. But I do believe there is some truth to the notion that Chytil's selection was made possible by going with a safer pick in Lias at 7. It was their first pick on a Friday night since 2012. They didn't want to risk picking someone who never makes it to the NHL and went with Lias. A more certain player with a lower ceiling but a higher floor

Lias should be in Hartford. Let him continue to grow and play well and enjoy some success.

It’s one thing if we were competitive and he played the bottom six but this is dumb. Why have him on this crap roster playing with no talent. And why do people blame Quinn? Lias isn’t ready for a top six role, especially with the lack of talent we have.
