C'mon though, just about everyone was talking about Andersson having those attributes in spades --- his former coaches, teammates, etc.

That's what makes his behavior all the more disappointing and frustrating. It's not as if he was going around acting the fool and the Rangers chose to look the other way.

It's like hiring someone for a position after they come with glowing recommendations, and the decision just completely goes off the rails. At some point you can spend hours, days, even weeks doing your due diligence and homework, and things still go sideways.
I guess Lias does not know how to not be the top dog?

I always worried about the pick because he reminded me a lot of Lauri Korpikowski. Not a bad player but not someone who will ultimately be a difference maker. Given how league has evolved and this saga, it'd now be a home run if he could reach that.
The big difference is that Korpikowski was a late first. A guy with that little upside should never be drafted in the top ten.

Found some footage of Lias at HV71's last practice. Apparently they never had the colour of gatorade that he prefers...

And Korpikoski could skate and not be overwhelmed by the speed of the game at the NHL level. The comparison that I've drawn as a player is Jarrko Immonen, who just never adapted to the pace of the NHL.

Kravtsov has been there for about a month. Clearly this is a definitive statement.

when Andersson was 19 he put up 25-5-9-14

Kravtsov (20) is at 22-4–4-8 right now

when Andersson was 20 he had
36-6-14-20

Andersson also started to pout and his play slacked in his age 20 season after he was sent back down. I believe when he was first called up he had 12points in 15 games.

Andersson's issue is how quickly he processes the game at the NHL level, not how he produces in lower leagues. His production and his "character" were the selling points to get him drafted, not his physical abilities.

I was hopeful that something would click for him against the big boys and he would up his pace, but we won't see that happen in a Rangers uniform now.

Probably a better place to be discussing Lias' play...

Played 11:12 in a 5-0 win today.
1 SOG.
4-for-9 in faceoffs despite being listed as a RW.

Hopefully just a warm up game to get his feet wet.

Never thought about it until reading your post, but that is really a spot on comparison. Even their situations are similar, re: expectations (top 10 pick for Lias, and being a big part of the return for Leetch for Immo), and the ongoing narratives about never getting a "real" opportunity.
