Can’t say I’m shocked with this. I am just curious if a different scenery will help him or not.

We’re not going to get anything for him right now. I mean you’d be lucky to get a draft pick in any round. Forget puljujaarvi. That’s not happening. Honestly the best thing is to loan him to frolunda and hope that he builds his trade value back. We don’t owe him a trade because he asked for it. I’d send him there forget about him and wait for something decent while he hopefully puts up pts like JP is doing

I know some say he hasn't been given a fair chance like that of Howden, all that aside I'm not surprised that he's in the A and slowly being forgotten about because to me, it was GLARING how terrible his skating/lack of foot speed was.

Unfortunately now, what little trade value he had is in the negative.

It's frustrating to me because we've seen it. These same discussions have come up a few times now. I know people have said look at TDA or Buch for Quinn developing guys but I have a different outlook on that. Both were in situations were Quinn's hand was forced. We can't forget that Tony started that preseason last year very very well, enough to easily pin him in the top 6. What happened? He was scratched for the opener, and scratched for 8 of the first 10 games... for Adam McQuaid, who had no future in this organization. Tony was VERY fortunate that there was a couple injuries where he was the only available option. Buch was one of our top 6 forwards, there was nobody else. Zucc and Hayes got traded and he still finished the season with 3rd liner minutes. A lot of minutes went to guys like Vlad and Vesey. These are players that will make up the future of the organization, within reason these guys should be getting minutes and be allowed to work through the growing pains. So I don't really credit Quinn with how those two shaped out since there weren't really any other options for him.

It's always been hilarious how Gorton rushed Stepan out the door before his NMC kicked in because "his skating and offense was concerning going forward" and then they draft Andersson. It was a crap shoot past Cody Glass that year but you know what, at least they should have tried for skill and upside instead of Walmart brand Stepan to kick off a retool/rebuild. Time for Bob to take over and take control of the drafting personnel a bit more.

Still not worse than passing up on taresenko for macllrath.

This isn’t too bad in isolation because he is very likely a bust anyway. What’s worrying, however, is that it’s only December and two of our prospects have already run away (thankfully kravtsov came back) this season. These kids may just be spoiled, but there also may very well be something very wrong internally in this organization

I definitely criticized the choice of lineups and where he played when he was here. Didn’t love the way they tried to get him going

that said, he hasn’t done himself any favors. He’s been bad in Hartford. If he was forcing his way up with his play and they still ignored him, I would understand.

but this is weak. Show up in the AHL at least.

Yeah, when Brendan Smith has been given more Top 9 minutes in the last 2 weeks than Andersson has in 2 years, no wonder he wants out. He showed promise in the preseason & first 10 games this season and Quinn ignored it, and benched him at every possible opportunity. Probably thinks (fairly) that as long as Quinn is coach, he'll never get a fair shot.

You mention Smith as if he was a fixture in top-9. Smith has been tied to the 4th line wing for his backcheck and forecheck and to play RD during PK in place of ADA and Fox.

The only “failure” right now is that Lias hasn’t been given a chance at a wing. Otherwise with an exception for being rushed (should have been left alone in the SHL and returned there after WJC to at least finish the season there) there’s nothing that Andersson has done that warranted giving him more opportunities at center.

Two Andersson wouldn't get a bite from Holland on Pool party. It's all about optics for Holland. He didn't draft poolparty. He doesn't care that much about getting a few picks back for him. He wants to send a message that Edmonton is not going to be a tire fire and a dump where bad decisions come one after another. He's set the price high and refused everything thrown his way so far. He wants to win that trade no matter what. He's not going to trade for a busting prospect that has shown less skill and production than poolparty even if you throw in a 2nd round pick. He wants a solid prospect and a small add on by the looks of it. Lias is not a solid prospect at this point post trade request.

I don’t think we should honor it for the sake of it, but maybe I’m just an asshole.

If I had to guess a dark horse spot for him, I could see him going to VAN.

He did in training camp. This is why I put this on the team. Simply put, Lias was one of the best players to don a Rangers sweater every time he did in preseason. IMO, there was zero reason (again after this Howden fiasco) to not give him ample opportunity with the right line mates after pre-season.

Even if Quinn knew he didn’t like Lias or his game and knew he wasn’t a fit, why would you drive his value down and ruin the kid? I just can’t grasp at any point how any of this was handled correctly. It doesn’t matter that the guys you wanted at 7 were gone. You have a whole draft class to decide on. The pick was an asset, use it properly or flip it and move back.

People keep saying he didn’t do himself any favors with his play but some guys develop slower. There’s no reason to run it in the ground. It’s just mindblowing. I blame Quinn for sure but Gorton gets some blame here too for not stepping in. To not back the kid with Quinn and get him a look, I mean how begrudgingly did Gorton pick him when he went on stage?

The guy was destined to be a bust from the beginning. Not a great skater and not a skill player. As for getting a chance, he was playing bad last season even in Hartford. Yes the team in Hartford stunk last year but he was a big part of the reason.
