Re Zucker: Sometimes it's just how things happen. It doesn't need to be Brassard level, but sometimes guys for whatever reason don't put it together with the new team.

Re Mantha: I wouldn't split Malkin and Kapanen, but after typing that reply I remembered Kapanen can play either wing. Kapanen-Malkin-Mantha could be interesting, but you better be damn sure if you're taking on that cap hit . . .

I just want balance. I don't like the idea of two guys trying to push the play and be production wingers with Sid or Geno. That's why I'm in favor of tossing some scraps to Calgary to give Bennett a shot. Ticks a lot of boxes, even if he's not a stellar pickup and has been struggling for a while. He's not going to get it in his mind that he's some free floating sniper or get too cute. He'll cause havoc physically and do the dirty work and let his linemates handle the heavy lifting production-wise. It'd be a nice trial run for the Better Bennett™ this summer in Laughton too.

If Kap can slide to LW without missing a beat and is fine being the grunt, yeah, totally see that working too.
