Tanev isn't going with Geno, and you know why.

I don't get replacing Kapanen with Mantha on Geno's RW.

As for Zucker, I think I'm just looking for more. Maybe more means 'like McCann' . . . I don't know the precise measure, but leaving the salary aside, there's just something there that hasn't/doesn't fit for whatever reason.

BTW, as I've said previously, the 'fit' issue isn't necessarily anyone's fault. Sometimes it just happens. If it didn't, every trade would work out perfectly.
I think Mantha's much more dynamic a player than anyone on this roster outside of Sid and Geno. He's guilty of taking shifts off and you would love a guy his size to use his size more effectively, but you're not getting a flawless player. Teams don't let those guys go, especially for what we have to offer. I'm not married to the idea, but I do think Mantha is a guy who could breakout if he escapes Detroit. Don't think we have what they'll want, but I could totally see Mantha working really well with Geno + Grunt, Laughton in this case.

And I'd like us to be rid of Sully this summer anyway. I get that the team's gone on a nice run, but I feel like they go on a nice run every season. If/when we bottom out again in the playoffs, I hope Hextall looks to install his guy behind the bench, whoever that may be.

Re: Zucker, we should all be wanting more. The guy has it in him, he's just not putting it together. I'm not saying he's been stellar, but I've wanted him for a while in Minny and I've always liked the player. This season's Zucker isn't the same Zucker that's been in the league for as long as he has.

It’s hysterical that our coach and GM did everything they could to not play Z until the injuries.

What is an upgrade? Is a lesser player who's a better fit an upgrade in your mind, or did you hate the Perron for Hags deal? Is better use of cap space an upgrade? Or is just a more talented (or comparably talented) player?

You need scoring depth in this league. I severely doubt the front office sees Zucker as an inefficient use of cap space.

Waiting to see if someone says "Horny would have scored on that!"

While ignoring that Horny would never had had that opportunity.

Why can't that happen? If he's a 40 point guy in a bad year, why can't he be a 60 point guy in a good year?

Since 2016-2017, Zucker has seasons of 47 points in 79 games, 64 points in 82 games, 42 points in 81 games and a prorated 56 points in 82 games. Why is 60 points unreasonable for him having a good year? He was on pace for 66 points last year with Crosby.
Zuck has a combined 53 points on special teams in his career.

So that leaves 210 points in 492 games at ES. Averages out to 0.427 ES P/GP.
That equals 35 points per 82 games.

You're asking him to get to what, 50-55 and fill in the rest on PP2 right?
He has 1 PPP this year.

I guess it's not totally impossible but I won't hold my breath.
