Best time to invest is when there is "blood on the streets", in other words when there is max pessimism in regards to allocating capital.

So many excellent dividend paying stocks at a great discount just now.

It is not the strongest who thrive, but those who, "improvise, adapt, overcome".

"It depends"...on who your broker is...meaning if BMO investorline is your main account there is a massive list of no transaction fee dividend paying ETFs you can take advantage of through this type of account.

Wealthsimple Trade can be an interesting option if you stick to Canadian shares (but take advantage perhaps of dual listed shares that are on the tsx) that way you avoid forex fees.

Cibc investorsedge I believe has the lowest transaction fees of the big banks...all in all there is a massive list of discounted divided payers that you can benefit from and benefit even more from if you minimise your transaction costs.

Fts, h, aqn, bce, BMO, ry, td, cnr, cp, centamin, tec, qsr, mty

Apologies, the list is too numerous, but if you would like you can pm to discuss. Definitely consider the banks, you can't go wrong, you can't go wrong with the Canadian banks for a number of reasons, Moreover, acquiring a banking license is no easy feat so they basically enjoy a OPEC like cartel on financial services and have historically been around for generations and paid dividends through two world wars etc etc Last point I would make is try to get so diversified that you get paid dividends every single business day of the year ,now that is a treat 😎

In bear market everybody looking for the yield paying stocks. Buy now when they come back make $$$

I have mining stock pays 13% yield. But it's down 10% since last November. RY has stayed about even in last year but only pays 4%. Not much cash there. I own power company Emera. Up about 5% plus 4% yield. For some reason that has out performed the market. I think everything going electric. People buying early

I have done real well with the cannabis REIT - IIPR, nice dividend and growth upside as well.

Not discounted too much but IEP pays a nice dividend as it's Carl Icahn's company.

To continue with Buffet's wisdom, investment should be made primarily based on quality/fundamentals of a business rather than Macro factors.

But playing armchair economists is fun for sure.

The thing is we are all asset managers here...

As a fellow "Buffet disciple" I thank you for the link and recommend the youtube channel "the Swedish investor" the video "Warren Buffet: How to make money during inflation" from him I think you will particularly like and benefit from.

Pessimists complain that the wind does not blow in their favour.

Optimists hope, pray, expect, eventually the wind will blow their way.

Realists, don't waste any time and critically do the important things first, adjust the sails.

Was it the Portuguese who were attributed to have invented sailing against the wind? Is it Aikido? Japanese!? Using your opponents momentum and strength against themselves for your own momentum?

If we approach capital allocation, time allocation and investing in a similar fashion we shall be see the fruits of our labour pay handsome dividends.

Can you please tell me which company that is?

Market bounce back today. It's good sign. Feds caused emergency meeting last night. I thought it was bad, but investors must think it was positive. Kind of surprised. They must think Inflation headed for big drop. Only thing I can think of

Sometimes things aren’t what they appear. They are playing kick the can. The worst is yet to come imo.

Will be fun...when they can't print their way out of this one lol.
I agree, but they have been making the "money machine go brrrrrr" (someone please attach gif if my attempt is unsuccessful) for my entire life and overcoming everything, so thus far we have yet to see where central bank money printing and CB market interventions etc is so bad that it ceases to be an option, will that they ever come in our lifetime? Judging on the course of history and it's slow progress...anyways prognostication says more or the prognosticator rather than what will actually happen.

Sometimes it's more the prognosticator's scars talking

Stock Market is so beat up be 4 to 5 years before it gets back to where it was. It was artificially too high S&P500 at $4,800 anyway. Buoyed by 0 interest rates during covid era and slashes to tax rate for super rich during Trump era. Going to take many years to get economy back on
