Why would Granlund play center when he is a wing? Why isnt Hintz a C? Ristolainen is for sure on the team on small ice against NHL-competition. Why would Heiskanen-Vatanen be a pairing, you want Heiskanen with a defensive-minded D such a s Lindell to get the best outta him. Where is Armia? So many wrongs here.
Hintz is nifty on the wing too. But Granlund at center.. meh. Ristolainen would probably say no if asked.

Let's get wacky

Puljujarvi - Aho - Laine
Kapanen - Hintz - Rantanen
Teravainen - Barkov - Granlund
Kotka - Lundell - Kakko
Haula/Donskoi

That was my first guess but I wonder if the teams lack of success at the 2016 WCH hurts his shot. Then again, who else is there? Sullivan maybe? NCAA guy possibly? :dunno:

I can't remember but I dont think the nationality rules apply to coaches, however teams typically want one of their own running the show.

Hintz - Kotkaniemi - Donskoi
Haula - Granlund - Kapanen

Heiskanen - Vatanen
Lindell - Heinola
Maatta - Jokiharju

Rask, Rinne, Korpisalo

This is our best shot ever to win gold.
I agree for the most part, my team:

Laine-Barkov-Rantanen
Teräväinen-Aho-Kakko
Granlund-Lundell-Kapanen
Haula-Hintz-Armia
Kotka

Heiskanen-Risto
Lindell-Heinola
Välimäki-Lehtonen
Vatanen

Rask, Korpisalo, Saros

Maybe Lavi?

Any idea whos the front runner to coach Team USA? I imagine Cooper will get the Canada job.

These are the current American head coaches in the NHL

* John Tororella
* Jeff Blashill
* John Hynes
* David Quinn
* Mike Sullivan
* Peter Laviolette

I think they all have merit in USA Hockey's eyes. Whoever they pick they need to embrace an up tempo, skilled brand of hockey.

So.. No Torts?

He would be great if there were injuries on guys like Kane and Eichel and need to go a different style..

What has Russia won on a best to best again? How did they do on home soil? They're not underrated they're horribly flawed and look even worse going into 2022. Can't overrate Canada when they're 3-0n in all the best on best competition in the last decade.

USA is Canada's biggest threat right now, Russia isn't even in the rear view.
USA is Canada’s biggest threat in bronze medal game.

Canada defense ain’t looking that great anymore
It isn't as good as it once was. You are right.

But they still have 7 or 8 defenseman who would be the #1 defenseman on Russia.

Pietrangelo, Makar, Chabot, Rielly, Hamilton, Theodore, Weber, and Doughty would all be the #1 on Russia.

You don’t break up Marchand, Crosby Bergeron. Make that a second or third line, fine, but you don’t shuffle known chemistry in a short tournament
I like it as a 3rd line.

Allow McDavid and MacKinnon to centre the top 2 lines. Put wingers around them that will maximize the line's effectiveness.

Then you can make a shutdown line of Couturier/O'Reilly/Stone full of Selke candidates.

Forgot about Lavi.

I think in an Olympic tournament your best going with an experienced coach, which would leave Torts, Lavi and Sullivan as front runners. But USA Hockey loves their NCAA guys so I could see Quinn getting a look as the top job.
