Let’s talk about: Jason Robertson (EDIT: 1st Dallas Star to hit 100+ points in a single season)

Robertson very strong rookie season is the reason the Stars still have a realistic chance at a playoff spot despite playing without the #1 goalie #1 center and #RW for the whole season
Kaprizov is the reason why the Wild is in a secure playoff spot, despite not having a #1 goalie, #1 center or a #1 RW for the whole season.

That's the understatement of the year.

Wild was fighting to avoid last place in the division last season.
Fact of the matter is Robertson is having JUST as good of a rookie season as Kirril Kaprizov to this point.

32 in 38gp is RIGHT THERE with Kaprizov’s 36 in 43 in terms of Points per game average.

The most telling stat right now is Robertson is playing more than 2 minutes a game less than Kaprizov yet is still challenging for the throne.

Not saying Jason is going to win the calder, all i’m saying is it’s not cut and dry anymore. Kaprizov has a legit challenger.

Robertson looks downright dominant out there right now. Stealing pucks, creating chances, scoring goals and assisting at an amazing clip. I think it’s still Kaprizovs to lose but if Dallas storms back into a playoff spot and Robertson has a big part of that we might be looking at the Calder winner

Different division. Central was much stronger . You have the three rebuilding California teams now.
Now?

Stat-watching doesn't impress me.

You didn't last season ? The "normal" Central division was much stronger than the West is.

It very much is not just stat watching. Robertson has been really really good . He's not getting carried on his line. If anything the player on the Stars line that is getting carried is Pavelski.

He's certainly been a nice surprise and a nice progression. We're only 2 years removed from him leading the entire CHL in scoring and then putting up an impressive stat line in the AHL the following year. It's been a nice progression, but clearly things have translated for him.

He's earned everything this year though, he didn't come in as a real known commodity like Kaprizov. He had his first 5 games in the press box then another 5 finding his feet. And from there has worked his way up to the top line. Impressive last 30 games especially, but I still feel like it's a tall order to catch KK.

Maybe don’t be so sensitive. Kaprizov is having an awesome rookie season. I love his game. He’s tons of fun to watch.

Robertson is also having an awesome rookie season and is getting better as it goes along.

My guess is you’ve not watched any Stars games. You don’t have to react to people praising Robertson like they’ve kicked your dog. We know you love your guy and will never consider anyone else worthy.

“Stat watching doesn’t impress me” when you probably have yet to watch any Stars game this year because if you did you’d see there’s so much more to Robertson’s game than his point production as well.

Your arguments can’t get anymore biased. It’s embarrassing really.

Maybe I will. Watching him won't tell me that it's easier to step into a Stanley Cup finalist than into a team that got their heads bashed in against the Canucks last playoffs though.

Looked at the Stars roster lately? Far from the same team that was a Stanley Cup finalist. The Stars are genuinely a bad team without Robertson's emergence

This team is not a Stanley Cup finalist. They’re scratching and clawing for the last playoff spot.

Either way, who gives a crap. The award is for the best season. It’s not awarded to the guy with the most excuses or burdens.

Same roster except for Seguin on one knee and Perry.

And Radulov and Kiviranta barely played and are shutdown for the year as well.

Also Hintz plays on just one leg and regularly has to sit out games ( still over PPG when he plays though )
