Let’s talk about: Jason Robertson (EDIT: 1st Dallas Star to hit 100+ points in a single season)

Nice to see a thread on this tbh he was flying under the radar about as quiet as one can for the month of March. Should be rookie of the month if they still do that sorta thing, although I think it's split up by division now for this season

He is a key piece that the Stars have been missing for a longgg time: a young forward who can pass the puck and is smart offensively

So the 2nd coming of Nick Ritchie?

I'd give it about a 0% chance he ever even attempts this in a game lol. It's not a legal shootout goal so it'd have to be during a breakaway

Also the goalie didn't even look where the puck went after it went over the crossbar . Thats just not gonna happen in a real game situation.

Why? The other guy said a PF that can pass and has iq

So thats part of Nick Ritchie game..

Robertson might be big but he's not physical really at all from what I've seen. Uses his size to protect the puck and that's about it

He is also better now than Ritchie has ever been in the NHL

I'd love to get robertson so we could complete the set. Jason and nick on the same line would be awsome.

Just curious, what was the story on this guy at the draft? Was he a midget that got a massive growth spurt post draft? Otherwise how does a 6'3 forward that scores 42 goals 81 points in his draft year on a team with no offense(outscored 2nd best scorer by 30 points) drops to the middle of the second round? That's crazy.

He couldn't skate for shit. It's always been his knock as a prospect and scouts wondered if he could skate at the NHL level. Never doubted his IQ or vision.

Saad Yousuf did a piece on his offseason dedication, including changing his skating stride - Inside the workouts that transformed Stars' Jason Robertson into one of NHL's top rookies

His skating concerns were probably the most overrated knock on a prospect league-wide. I never saw them. I watched closely. Couldn’t find any skating concerns. He wasn’t fast, but he’s talked about as a terrible skater.

Because most thought he wouldn't be able to skate at an NHL level, with average to above average skating he was a top 15, maybe top 10 pick.

This kid is unreal. Not the fastest but he sees the game like no one else on the team. Robo needs Calder consideration

Only way they’re playing together is if Nick comes to Dallas. Jason is already an established top-6er and has top line potential on top of that.
I'd love to have him and nick but thats a pipe dream. I'm happy enough with one Robertson. I'd love to see J. robertson win the Calder this year.
