This is going to be one of those picks the whole league will be laughing at us for for a long, long time. I literally have zero trust in our GM and scouting any more. We were God awful drafting forwards ever since, but now we are the laughing stock of the hockey world.

Carlsson is a dual-threat that none of our current forwards have the ability of achieving.

Bummer just because I had my heart set.

I have no issue with the pick though. Everyone talks about Fantilli having the higher ceiling but I always viewed Carlsson as the higher ceiling.

He can easily add 20 lbs and if he improves his skating I think he can easily be a better player.

Obviously I think Fantilli fits in better with the current roster, but we always say draft the BPA not who fits a need.

You specifically brought this specific feeling on yourself with your absurd exaggerations based on incredibly limited exposure to either player. Sorry that I don’t have more faith in you than one of the better drafting NHL teams around these days.

The part we don’t know is if Fantilli wasn’t that high on Anaheim. If he really wanted to be picked by Columbus, it would be foolish to pick him and have him go back to Michigan.

John
He's friends with Zegras and Drysdale plus he has an endorsement with Chipotle's and even wore an eggplant suit. Guy clearly wanted to go to us.

Having now jumped off the bridge, like others have said, if this is the pick from the scouting staff and FO, I have a lot of faith in them.

Lol I tried to educate you on Carlsson, you just didn’t want to hear it. I see you still have the blinders on. Both are elite prospects.

I'm surprised by the pick of Leo and very happy the Ducks picked Carlsson! I preferred Leo over Fantilli.

Welcome, Leo!

When Verbeek was interviewed right after drafting Carlsson, Verbeek noted that Carlsson playing center well at the WC was the tipping point. For the past two seasons in the SHL, Carlsson has been playing wing. At junior international games, Carlsson played center. Playing with men as a 1C for team, not looking out of place, and having a decent production gave Carlsson more value as he can project as an actual center.

I believe that still belongs to the team playing in a college arena named, the Mullet Arena
