Chicago will give him 2x10 easily if their plan is to move out a RHD for a top 6 forward if they end up with Reid at pick 4...Carlsson would be the perfect stop gap...whether the money is more important than competing for a cup who knows

Would be disaster for Hawks to move out one of our young RD and then compound mistake by overpaying for Carlson to come and suck ass like he did with Ducks when they needed him to show up

People aren't adjusting for the cap rising on this site, there's going to be some real large salaries paid out over the next few seasons, the flat cap era is dead.

I don’t get the disbelief in this thread. Dude is very good and probably worth that per year. So on a 2 year deal, it makes sense

At one end of the rink. His legs are shot and he can't keep up defensively for 20+ minutes a night. There's a reason almost all Ducks fans don't mind him walking at that price.

It's fine and even an easier deal at 2 years than today's Raddysh contract in my eyes. Not a bargain but fills a need for teams looking for a solid stopgap.

With all due respect, given Carlsson's age he likely wants to play for a contender not a team that's still in a rebuild.

Tampa makes a lot of sense now that Raddysh is gone, immediately fills a hole and the length of the contract is pretty much what both sides are comfortable with.

Just don't see him going to a young team.

Agree that TB makes the most sense. The Chicago broadcast mentioned on a pregame show at the end of the season that Carlson would be a potential target so it would not be a surprise if they come in with an inflated bid on a short term deal if they go Reid at 4 and want to move a RHD like Rinzel out for a forward and JC becomes a stop gap until Reid is ready...But there was already a report Carlson wants to go back east so...

After the Loss of Raddysh you got to believe this is Tampa, it almost has to be.

If it's not they have a big hole on the defense

Dmitry Orlov got 7.75x2 on an 83 mill cap and people are losing their minds about Carlson the vastly better player on a 10x2 on a 104 mill cap
I don’t think 2 x $10M is that extreme and the Orlov signing is the first comp I thought of for an older defenseman.

Wouldn’t hate him on the Flyers to give Bonk and Jiricek more time to cook in the AHL. Think this makes even more sense if they move on from Risto in the offseason.
