For only 2 years? I could be talked Into this

If you are looking to upgrade your Top4 in UFA....this is your best option at this point

I mean for 2 years maybe...but given his age giving him that much money for anything more than a year can really bite a team in the arse. Does the over 35 year old rule still not exist? Should age catch up with him, would that cap hit not be a burden to a team if he retired or did not work out and they try and move him? Not saying he will flop but he will be 37 by January...

I hope you've been taking WSH and ANA fan feedback into account. JC still has it offensively but he's really slowing down

I really don't think TB cares. They will probably try to get the AAV down as much as they can, but ultimately just seems to make too much sense for them. Mutual fit IMO

Is there a team in the east that will do this though?

Philly seems to have cheap corporate owners.

Tampa - excuse me for being insensitive but I have not followed the Hedman situation. Is he coming back?

Lmao the Flyers are anything but cheap. Theyve been a spend to the cap limit team forever. This is their first summer with ample cap space since the cap existed.

Hedman said he would be back next year, yeah. Although, if he isn't coming back for whatever reason, you could basically start buying Carlson's plane tickets to Tampa now.

I guess I’m probably just too wary of corporate owned sports teams being cheap. Thought maybe some of their front office hires looked cheap, not necessarily the cap, and only since the full ownership change.

Nah with Comcast, they are willing to give the Flyers as much money as needed, and that includes a lot of the non-salary cap stuff too like all of the different departments (medical, training, scouting, analytics, etc.). They spare no expense. The issue with them is they are clueless about what it takes to build a winning team beyond signing checks, and they still rely on advice from 80 year old Broad Street Bullies like Bob Clarke and Bill Barber when it comes to hiring Presidents and GMs.

Tampa would be the "Olie Kolzig" route for another Caps legend.

Don't forget, Carlson was briefly teammates with Jeff Halpern in Washington, as well.

Elliotte Friedman was the first to report it. No state income taxes. Last week it was Carlson wants to play in the northeast. Now it's Tampa.
It seemed to be speculated pretty widely among us amateurs after the Raddysh trade. Quick look at the TB cap situation and roster makes this make a good bit of sense. I wonder if Carlson even makes it to July 1 before TB goes and gets his rights. Honestly feels like a bit of soft tampering going on, but not really sure who it benefits
