I have no idea how Vegas has "one of the best defenses in the league" - past their top 3 that looks like absolute trash

Who are you picking as 3? Whitecloud? Martinez (at his age) and McNabb are still solid 4/5s and I’d take Hague over whatever Manson and JMFJ have been this year

This is an Avalanche reference.

I take no responsibility for the video or the bad music.

:avs

(There will be absolutely no jokes about Nuke in Vegas with a Prosvetov, and I don't know what they even could be.)

EPIC GDT!

My favorite part may be the caption explaining "This is an Avalanche reference" to the top picture. I don't know why but I laughed way harder than I should have at that. Must've been the weed.

Hot take but Vegas arguably has a better second pairing once you take into account handedness and ability to play together.

G and Byram just don't work as pair. And Manson as #4 is too injured and inconsistent (or consistently bad).

Can’t wait for this game tonight, hope both teams come out strong and we see the cream of the Western Conference crop on display.

Keys for both teams remain the same as always when they meet.

For us, we need to get the skating and transition game going early. We want speed, we want space, we want high energy hockey.

For Vegas, get that puck in deep, smash and grind down our finesse defensemen, endless cycles and havoc in the paint. Limit time and space. Heavy, big boy hockey.

Feel like this is a game where the forwards will dictate how successful we are, not with their offense but by how well they support the D in our own zone. Against Vegas, it seems like, in a lot of our losses our forwards are transitioning to offense before the defense is ready. That's when Vegas can really pick apart and abuse our smaller dmen. They've got to make sure they support the D.

I don’t really think this is too hot of a take. I prefer Toews-Cale to Theodore-Pietrangelo. In a vacuum G and Byram are probably better than Martinez - Whitecloud but as an actual cohesive pairing the Vegas one is better

Not watching live tonight. I'm going to watch CU get beaten live instead of watching the Avs get slaughtered from a distance. Vegas is going to stomp us.

Predicting 3-2 avs with a Makar hat trick

I anticipate a hockey game between 2 NHL squads where one team scores more goals than the other, resulting in a win for that team.

5-2 Avs with Stone complaining to the ref about a missed call late in the game after slashing Mack all night.

I dont think I agree with this, largely because I think this idea that G/Byram not working together just isn't really true.

Girard has been our best Dman all year quite frankly, and while relative to expectations perhaps Byram has been disappointing, he's also still putting up really solid analytics all year. He's just having brain farts at a much higher rate than we'd like basically.

Admittedly I haven't been able to look and see if those two are putting up the godly possession metrics when together or just when separated, but both of them have controlled play at a high rate on the ice. Girard moreso, but Byram has still been solid. Those two along with Toews/Makar have clearly been the best 4 D we have and pretty much all 4 are controlling play completely when on the ice.

5-1 Vegas. Shots 42-20 for Vegas. Kolesar injures someone again.

Would be nice if Nathan MacKinnon could snap out of his funk tonight. He has looked as dangerous offensively to start this season as he did from 14-15 until 16-17.
